May's been gagging to do this for years. On the one hand, if you've nothing to hide there shouldn't be anything to worry about. But it does sound pretty regressive. Can't fart these days without being caught on camera, recorded or having a record of it somewhere.

And that's the problem "If you don't do any thing you shouldn't be doing there's nothing to worry about " It's like postman pat opening your letters when he feels like . Slowly but surely over the next decades free speech will be wiped out in this country

What constitutes as free speech?.. because I've seen rallies in London where they're protesting to kill all the kafir in the west. I have also seen demonstrations to overturn a democratic process.. and it's still ongoing. and even if the govt are peeping on you.. just behave like a rational human. don't watch videos online that have people getting their heads chopped off, anyone being molested.. no weird porn.. murder.. being corrupt, following extremist groups willing to blow up the world.. grooming children, and stuff. there's free speech, then you have security concerns.. it's mainly done for security purposes. Just like Calais.. you got people moaning about the govt not doing anything to help these people.. the govt bow down, let them all in.. a few months pass, terrorist atrocity committed by an ISIS member posing as a Calais migrant.. then the same people who were moaning blames the govt. it's like a never ending circle of a self-inflicted choice.

I mean, its as if these people have no idea what the value of user data is. They don't seem to understand the security risks of a back door key. It's like why do you close your blinds if you've nothing to hide. And that you'd be perfectly fine to have every officer and government agent in the country with a key to your front door. To me its idiodic, and we are losing our rights in the name of so called 'protection'. And this loss of rights for added secuirty has been seen throughout history, and its not ended up as a good trade off in the past. I also wonder what this 'everyone's information readily accessible' is going to do with the data as payment model, for things like email and web traffic is going to value at when government officers start selling off your usaage data wholesale. uggh... there's so much were losing by these schemes to pinch data.

When I was a nipper the news broadcast stuff about the dreadful Stasi and their mistrust (and overbearing spying) of the population. They couldn't even have dreamed of the apparatus used against us in the UK now but it's apparently for our benefit...lying scum establishment.

As you say if you've nothing to hide then why worry ? Just returned from Singapore on hollibubs. Out there the cameras record you if you break the law (dropping litter, not disposing of chewing gum into a bin, spitting, as well as more serious offences are all subject to a fine on the spot), very few police around, but they will follow you by cctv and catch up with you. Good for them I say - safest place I've been apart from Helsinki
