I don't think it's a case of cannot, as country laws supersede any community "court". Maybe some people won't because of fear of reprisal in their community, but there is no way they cannot do so. |  |

Have i experienced it in London personally? No. Have i read and seen stories in local newspapers etc etc - yes. It does happen, and i suspect is underreported for obvious reasons.
Need to be aware of the differences in the muslim community though. Those who are like 2nd and 3rd generation here and consider themselves British, absolutely cannot stand the "freshies" or "fresh off the boat" types. Their words, not mine. Hard to tar everyone with the same brush. |  |

A couple of things on your post. There may be sharia councils/groups, but there are no official "courts", also they only apply to those of the muslim faith in an area, so would not have any influence on the non muslim community. As for your statement on rape, it was false. Rape can be reported, just as I mentioned before, some communites are likely to frown upon its reporting due to trying to keep certain things "in house", and thus it is discouraged. | |
