Most people do not go to France to visit former Royal Palaces with the exception Versailles. While millions of tourist visit the UK to see our Royal history and Royal events.

The UK system certainly works for my Country Wales. The richer parts of the UK transfer money to the poorer parts of the UK. Wales gets an extra £3000 per person than the UK average.
This dwarfs the very small regional development fund from the EU, which was of course paid for by UK taxpayers in the first place.
What does not work for Wales is Drakeford's Senedd which seems to waste this money and refuses to invest on new infrastructure. This drives away business and tourism and has resulted in Wales 4.5% unemployment rate . | |

I certainly have never fawned over anyone but I do respect what an individual did for this country, put in position not of her choosing but did a job for over 70 years, i have more respect for the Queen than I could ever have for a self serving celebrity who couldn't begin to replicate her service .
IMO the monarchy will continue to fade away as it already has begun to with each decade that passes and we will become a republic but not in my lifetime and I'm comfortable with that, whether we have a monarchy or not it will not make a bit of difference to me or mine. | |

To see 162 million being spent on a funeral ,Queen or not, when we struggle to fund NHS for the benefit of the Monarch s citizens to me seems unacceptable, almost as much as that on a coronation for her successor .

Sorry to highlight your post but we are in agreement here,like it or not.
They ARE used to it and are in a position to stop or amend it all. They have the power to do so.
When my son lived in The Hague ,he often saw the Queen in public places with no entourage at all. He did a charity swim in which she took part and few actually recognised her in Google’s and Cap amongst the shyte in the canals .
Ours still view us as subjects and patronise us .
