The failings are still there, the last word ! 4th Feb 2024 19:58
The Swans had every chance to take all the points from the game yesterday against Plymouth. It’s now clear head coach, Luke Williams has faith in Jerry Yates, albeit whilst ignoring completely Mykola Kukharevych who surely deserves a three game run ? 0

makes you wonder why neither Duff,Sheehan or Williams have given Mykola a shot?

Got to happen, surely ?

If he is good enough for a place on the bench he must be good enough for game time. There are several occasions when he should have gone on, Saturday was one, two wide players with pace is calling out for a big strong number 9 who can use his head. Stubbornness by the coach is costing us points, he needs to grow a pair and play him.

If he can't get in before yates and cullen he must be bad,but I don't believe anyone is worse than yates

But why have 3 managers this season not used him?
neither Duff or Sheehan gave him time so is it all down to Williams' stubbornness

I’m guessing there’s more to this. Duff and Williams couldn’t be further apart in footballing philosophies, yet neither, nor Sheehan had any real interest in playing him.

Duff needed a striker who could hold the ball up. Williams is looking to play with width and get crosses in. Yates has struggled for form, Lowe isn’t really a striker,. We win a lot of headers from corners, but only Darling seems a real threat. We would be much more of a threat if we had another big physical player in there. Yet he never gets a look in.

Then why put him on the bench if he is not going to play.

Because managers like having options. Not every player on the bench is going to play. Some might depending upon how the game is going. Others may not. There's not a chance on Earth that he'd have been picked for the bench if Williams had no intention whatsoever of playing him.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It’s strange. I suppose we’ve got 9 places on the bench and have to fill them.

We brought Patino and Sagoe on at 1-0 down with 15 minutes left and all the play compressed into Plymouths half. If that isn’t the time to bring a player like Kukarevych on, I don’t know when is.

The role of the no. 9 apart from the obvious is to cause the defence as many problems as he can and allowing the team to benefit from it, at the moment that isn't happening it was nice to see both Ronald and Palcheta causing the opposition problems. Is Yates playing effectively, no one has formed a playing relationship with him, no one is looking to play through him?
