An equaliser from Adam Rundle at Kenilworth Road was enough to confirm Dale's place in this year's play offs. Match Report online now.

Dale lined up 4-5-1/4-3-3, (whichever way you want to look at it) with Gary Jones returning to Dale's midfield.

Dale: Fielding, Ramsden, McArdle, Stanton, Kennedy, Dagnall, Toner, Jones, Keltie, Le Fondre and Thorpe.

To summarise the first half, as there was very little to talk about, it was Luton Town who enjoyed the majority of possession during the first half, dominating throughout.

But for all their possession, they never showed any signs of hurting Dale, until Stanton was adjudged to have pushed Luton's Chris Martin, with the referee pointing to the spot.

£60,000 signing Tom Craddock made no mistake with the penalty, firing it past Fielding to give the Hatters a deserved lead.

Aside from that and a tame effort from Luton's midfield, there wasn't really anything for Fielding to do in the first half as Luton failed to take any advantage of their dominance.

In regards to Dale's attacking threat during the first half, there was a lot of hard work by Thorpe, who worked all first half with the midfield failing to really support him like they should of.

Infact, it got to the point where Clark Keltie was tried out on the wing which made him look even more ineffective as Dale struggled to make any impact on the ball.

But, the management had endured enough to see it was time for a change, as we reverted to a 4-4-2 formation with Keltie and Dagnall being replaced by Joe Thompson and Adam Rundle.

And from that point onwards, it was a compleltely different story...

Dale looked a different team with the two wingers posing plenty of problems for Luton's defence with it only looking a matter of time before Dale scored.

The equaliser came after a deep cross by Simon Ramsden to Luton's far post found Adam Rundle's marker failing to keep up with him as Rundle slotted the ball under Brill to equalise for Dale.

Dale could have found themselves in front too if Le Fondre had have fired at his first opportunity, with the striker preferring to take too many touches and eventually firing his effort over Brill's bar and into the travelling support.

The best chance of Dale scoring a winner was missed by Lee Thorpe, who couldn't squeeze the ball past Luton's 'keeper with his effort, like Alfie's, going over the bar.

Will Buckley was given the last ten minutes to see if he could create anything, replacing the terrific Thorpe who had put in a shift which had deserved a goal.

But it wasn't to be as the match petered out to a 1-1 draw.

The second half was a much better performance by Dale and it was encouraging to see us fight back again like we've seen us do against Shrewsbury for example.

It also, as we all know, confirmed our place in the play offs which is another magnificent achievement by our management.
