Speculation over the last 24 hours has linked bad-boy striker El Hadji Diouf with a sensational switch from Doncaster Rovers to Leeds United, but would it really happen and what would the fans reaction be to the controversial Senegal striker.

Diouf's brilliance in the 2002 World Cup won him a big money move to Liverpool the following summer. However controversy was never that far away and incidents, using involving spitting probably overshadowed what he actually did on the field at Anfield.

I remember him coming to ER with the Reds, facing the Don Revie Stand and holding his nose as if to imply we all needed to take a bath! He moved on to Bolton, then Sunderland, Blackburn, Rangers (loan) then his high profile move to Doncaster - ironically on Halloween last year.

Ironically his visit to Leeds in February with Rovers coincided with the appointment of Neil Warnock, a man who had described him as a 'sewer rat' following an incident with QPR's Jamie Mackie.

Typically there was incident during and after Leeds' dramatic 3-2 win over hapless Doncaster, with Diouf facing taunts from the Leeds fans about his wife, his haircut and the Kop was urging Alex Bruce to "knock him out".There was an incident involving Ross McCormack and a melee erupted in the tunnel afterwards which saw the Police intervene!

Now the improbable seems possible?

Interestingly, the only comment has come from Diouf himself who seems warm on an extended stay in Yorkshire, whether the fans are so welcoming is another matter.

Personally I am not openly hostile to a move for Diouf as many Leeds fans clarly are, he was by far the best player on the park against Doncaster and he would do a decent job as a creative midfield player. He would also be yet another excuse for so-called "decent society" to arise from it's slumber when "Dirty Leeds" come to town.

However I just do not think he is worth the risk. The recent Manchester Niteclub incident is a clear indicator that he just attracts trouble and bad publicity. It just seems too much of a volatile mix to put him and Warnock together, so I would steer clear and move on.
