Carlisle and Doncaster join the Swans in speaking out against Leeds arbitration panel

As Leeds wait for the decision of the arbitration panel, people from Swansea, Carlisle and Doncaster have all shared their view about the proceedings that could have a dramatic effect on the League One table if successful

Although it seems unlikely that the Yorkshire side will be given back their full points tally - there seems to be a growing belief that they could receive financial compensation - any point return could push them further up the league table than their current position.

And that is something that clearly the current top three clubs have thought about as they all came out to speak against the proceedings.

Swansea manager Roberto Martinez said

“It is unfortunate in football when certain issues which should remain within the football bodies go outside of that,” said Martinez.

“I am sure that Uefa and Fifa will not be happy when they see that an issue that should have remained within the game has not.

“I had experience in Spain where clubs threatened to take things outside the football ring and they were heavily punished. Probably because Leeds is such a huge club is why they can get away with it.

“But there are huge repercussions in world football when you do that. It can be dangerous.

“I think everyone is under the impression after this that every single football club will have the right to take things further.

“I am sure Carlisle and Doncaster, teams who could be affected, will also take things further.”

Carlisle manager John Ward said

"I think Leeds will get something back."

But Ward is not happy about the timing of the appeal. "The goalposts will have been changed with three games to go which would be strange," he said.

"Rules are made at the beginning of the season and should be adhered to."

Doncaster Chairman John Ward said

"In my opinion they will fail. If they do succeed it would be an incredibly sad day for football.

"It would actually mean that promotion could be decided in a court of law."

If Leeds have all the points returned they would climb to second in the League One table and third-placed Doncaster would drop to fourth.

"I've never known anything like this happen," he said.

"What would happen next? Would Bournemouth, Luton, Rotherham - all the other teams that have lost 10 points, take on the Football League? I think it's a nonsense."
