Jenkins "Proved Right" Over Trundle
Friday, 28th Aug 2009 07:05

Huw Jenkins said he has been proved right over Lee Trundle's spell at Bristol City

Trundle returned to Swansea yesterday after a disappointing two years at Ashton Gate and signed a loan contract that will keep him back in South Wales until January 1st.

And whilst the Swans Chairman suggested that it was only a short term move he also believes it was an easy decision for new manager Paulo Sousa to make in signing the striker back to his former club

Speaking to BBC Sport, Jenkins said "I always said perhaps they'd play a system that didn't suit him, which I'm not going to say I'm happy about, but I was proved right.

"We've got to take it one step at a time, I think that with the injuries and suspensions we've got we had to get a few players in.

"And I think that [signing Trundle until 1 January] was there to be done, just to help us over the next few months and at the moment that's all we're looking at.

"I think that was an easy one, really, for our manager," said Jenkins.

"With the injuries and suspensions we've got it was a matter of quickly bringing in somebody to cover, especially over the next few weeks.

"And somebody like Lee obviously knows the players quite well and can settle in very, very quickly and can help us over the next few months.

"We've moved on a lot as a football club since he left us and he'll soon realise that when he sees us playing week-in week-out," said Jenkins.

"When he's there and when he gets the chance to play for us he'll see what a difference our team is now compared to what it was then."
