Brendan Rodgers believes his side have the confidence back as they go into the last two games before the play offs

The Swansea City manager told the Western Mail after Monday's 4-1 win over Ipswich Town “Apart from when we switched off for their goal, I thought we were magnificent.

“To get four points from six over a busy period is a testament to the players and now the aim is to finish as high as we can.

“And to do that we have to stick to our tactics which are to pass the ball, to press and to have patience. That’s been a winning formula for us all season.

“We’ve gone into every game to win and that will be the intention again and the formula will be no different.

“Because we want to go into these last couple of games in good form.

“We found the right spirt at Portsmouth which had been missing in a few games and it allowed us to go into Monday with big confidence – and it showed.

“Our game is based on ourselves where we respect our opponent, but we do not have any fear.

“Now, whenever and wherever the season finishes, we want to be the very best we can.

“I’ve told the players the season starts now rather than finishes because we’ve got into the play-offs."

And would Brendan be tempted to rest players in the last couple of games after leaving out leading scorer Scott Sinclair on Monday?

“I’ve known Scott a long time and he looked tired,” Rodgers explained.

“He looked tired even when he came on. But it’s his first full season and the first time he’s played this many games.

“Some people have said he’s gone off the boil, but that’s because his standards are so high.

“He’s got 20-plus goals as a winger, played nearly every minute of every game, worked up and down that touchline and sweated blood for the club, so it’s natural he will have a bit of tiredness.

“But it’s my job to manage that, the same as it is with Joe Allen.

“They are big talents and you could play them every time. But sometimes they need rests.”
