We Needed To Move...

I'm not sure there is Swans fan out there who would disagree with Huw Jenkins when he says that we wouldn't currently be at the level we were at had we stayed at the Vetch Field.

Much has happened in the ten years since the Swans switched the Vetch for the Liberty Stadium not least the two promotions that happened and of course a return to European Football thanks to the only major trophy in our history.

Add to that we are just about to enter a fifth year in the Premier League and you can understand why the Chairman feels the way that he does after so many years where the club fought it seemed in the bottom half of the football league.

Jenkins has overseen much in his twelve years as Chairman of the club and rightfully so he takes much of the credit for the Swans rise from the seemingly impossible escape to what was last season eight place in the Premier League.

And he knows that the Liberty has to take the credit for some of that as he told the Evening Post "Without a doubt it's played a massive part.

"We have settled in now and we are enjoying our new home.

"It feels like home now.

"We have gone through the leagues here and got to the Premier League.

"Without us being in this stadium what we have done would have been virtually impossible."
