Chelsea v Swansea - Has The Optimism Changed?
Wednesday, 29th Jul 2015 12:18 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

It is always interesting to see how the optimism shown by Swans fans changes during the course of the season and nothing highlights that better than the feeling over the opening day fixture.

It is now six weeks since the fixtures computer dictated that we would open our fixture list this season with a trip to Stamford Bridge and the Champions Chelsea, possibly the toughest test to the start of the season that the Swans could have.

At that point in time all we had to base our views on was the belief that the squad would be stronger and combining well ahead of the new season. Since then, the players have returned to pre-season training, have gone four games unbeaten in their pre-season fixture list and now we have just ten days to go until the big kick off that of course can be seen live on Sky Sports.

When the fixtures were first drawn we asked the question as to how people thought we would get on and with over 120 people voting there was pretty much an even split between win, lose and draw.

At that point almost as many people thought we would win as would lose so it will definitely be interesting to see how that viewpoint has changed - if at all?

Of course we are used to starting the season as underdogs on the opening day with Manchester City and Manchester United (twice) being opening day fixtures on three of our previous four Premier League season. Few though will forget that we started last season with a win at Old Trafford against the odds so we have a history of upsetting the form guide on opening day - if indeed there is one.

So what do you think at the moment? Vote below in our latest site poll.
