Pep Hails Sqaud Strength

It was all change at the Liberty last night as the Swans made eleven changes to the team and assistant manager Pep Clotet was the one that spoke to the press after the game where he hailed the strength that the Swans had in depth.

When you make eleven changes from the side that started the last league game you do wonder whether you will be able to cope with it but the Swans did exactly that, brushing past their League Two opponents by three clear goals.

A second minute strike from Nathan Dyer was the perfect start for the Swans while second half goals from Matt Grimes and Marvin Emnes gave the scoreline the comfort that it deserved and earned the Swans a third round tie away to Hull City.

“We are very happy with the whole team’s work tonight,” said Swansea’s assistant manager. “We have a very competitive squad, and they showed what they could do tonight.

“We have said before that it was important to have competition in every position in the squad.

“There is a good atmosphere in the group and difficult situations will come, so it was important the club got to the point where we had a very competitive squad.

“Those games are not easy - against a team that were not comfortable to play against."

Whether any of the side that played against York has given us something to think about ahead of the visit of Manchester United will remain to be seen but the comfort is definitely in the words used by Pep in that we have a competitive squad and when you look at the team we put out then we certainly have a deep enough squad to be able to be very competitive on all fronts this season.
