"Rooney Has To Be Respected"

This time last week Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney was said to be in crisis as he went nine games without a goal but just a week later he is a "man in form" if you believe some of the media thanks to his hat-trick in the Champions League in midweek.

Rooney broke his duck with a hat-trick as our visitors today won 4-0 in Bruges to secure their place in the group stages of the Champions League.

And today he arrives at the Liberty Stadium hoping to score his first Premier League goal since August against the Swans as both teams put their unbeaten records on the line in the final Premier League match before the first international break of the season.

By the time the division returns from that international break then Rooney could have another record under his belt as he will join up with England looking to score the two goals that he needs to become his country's leading goalscorer of all time as well.

The man trying to stop Rooney finding the net is, of course, Swans goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski who has been excellent for the Swans since joining from Arsenal and he will be in search of a second Liberty Stadium clean sheet this season following the 2-0 win over Newcastle two weeks ago.

But he knows how dangerous the Man Utd striker is “Rooney’s got massive quality and his position has changed as little so you must be given time to adapt, but he’s got to be respected because he gives a lot for his team,” said the Polish international.

“Their goal threat is spread around a few players — Depay, Mata, Januzaj, Fellaini — not just Rooney. They have a lot of attacking threats and we have to do our best to keep them as quiet as possible.”
