Cork - It's Great To Beat Champions League teams
Tuesday, 1st Sep 2015 07:00 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews)

The Swans beat Manchester United again on Sunday making it three wins from the last three meetings and Jack Cork was praising of the two goalscorers after the game after Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis took their tally to seven in the league this season.

The two men in the advanced positions are both on fire at the moment having scored all of the Swans Premier League goals to date and had it not been for the width of the post at Sunderland each would have scored in all four games.

“They’re scoring all our goals, we were said that in the changing room,” said Cork.

“They’re playing well, not just scoring goals but tracking back defensively and helping the team"

It is incredible when you think that both players arrived in Swansea on a free transfer, one this summer and one last, and that becomes more laughable when you look at the fees being paid by other Premier League clubs for players that turn out to be of inferior quality.

It is always good times to be a Swans fans but none so better than now as Sunday's victory was our 8th league win over one of the sides that will grace this season's Champions League in 34 outings since we arrived in the Premier League. A record like that says much about our ability and with those odds you would suggest that there is another win at least to come this season.

“It’s always nice to get the points on the board and make things more comfortable. After the first couple of months you want to be in a good position,” added Cork.

“To get a victory over a Champions League side is great and obviously our record against them is great.

“They’re a very good team and it was a hard game, there was lots of pressure from both teams, it was end to end and they had a lot of the ball at times.

“Similarly to when we last played them at home, we stuck to our game plan and got a result.”
