It's Too Early For Predictions

Garry Monk will this afternoon welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Liberty Stadium looking to end a winless run for his side that has so far extended to four games and has derailed some of the excellent work of the opening weeks of the season.

When Bafetimbi Gomis scored the winner at the end of August to beat Manchester United for a third successive game there were wild predictions of Champions League qualification for a Swans side who had lifted themselves into third place in the league.

Those predictions seem a distant memory now as the Swans stumbled their way through September with three defeats in those four games and only Gylfi Sigurdsson's late penalty to show for their efforts in terms of the goals for column.

The visit of Spurs tomorrow is a great chance to put that winless run behind us and head into the next international break in a stronger position and with confidence back up as we look to end a run of seven straight defeats to Spurs.

Just like the predictions of Champions League qualifications were wild after four games, those of relegation battles are equally as wild after seven, something that manager Garry Monk believes to be the case.

He thinks that it is way too early to be making predictions on finishing places this season "I think you probably need to get to around the 15-game mark before you can really assess where you're at and what you can likely try to do," he said.

"Around the 15-game mark is where it starts to settle down a bit and you can see where people are at and it will be the same for ourselves.

"But we do approach it trying to make the most of each game. We'll aim to do that on Sunday and concentrate on the three points.

"We won't look too much further ahead than that."
