Norwich 1 Swansea 0 - Toothless Swans Lose Again

There was a statistic given out at half time today that the Swans had had 70% possession but if you can tell me of anything of note that John Ruddy in the Norwich goal had to do then please point me in that direction as the Swans were beaten again making it just one win in nine.

The fluent football of the early weeks of the season is a long since forgotten memory now as we look static at all times and whilst we have plenty of the ball there is very little that we are doing with it and something needs to change before what has been described as a loss of form becomes a crisis that we do not want to face.

Too many players are out of form and not looking like the players we saw back in August and that has to be the big concern together with our inability it seems to recreate any of those early season performances.

A midfield that just likes to pass the ball around between themselves creates very little and whilst many fingers will be pointed at the lack of goals from Bafetimbi Gomis the reality is there is very little we are creating for him or any of the players that we have in the side at the moment.

Add to that the substitutions that give Eder the predictable five minutes at the end and I still cannot fathom why we took off Gylfi Sigurdsson when we did as he is one of only three players to find the net this season for us in the league.

That says it all for me in that in twelve league games this season just three players have found the net and only two have managed it from open play with Gylfi's two goals coming from a free kick and a penalty.

We have two weeks as it stands at the moment to work hard and correct the problems that we have created for ourselves. We spent many of the first three weeks of the season talking about Top 6 and even Champions League qualification but now it is time to start talking about how we have not been good enough yet again and lost to a side that until today was woefully out of form.

The only goal - not surprisingly - came from a set piece as our inability to defend them is also legendary and despite trailing for 20 minutes we never looked like hitting the equaliser and defeat beckoned again for the Swans as they lost once again on the road.

I still do not believe that this side is destined for a relegation battle but it will need a changearound in performances to ensure that it does not happen and that needs to start two weeks today against Bournemouth or the pressure will really feel as if it is being turned up.

66% possession, no shots on target. End of story
