Reports Suggest Clement Deal Agreed

Both Sky Sports and the BBC are reporting that former Derby County boss Paul Clement will be the Swans new manager following the sacking of Bob Bradley earlier in the week.

The name of Clement has long since been linked with the Swans and he was thought to be in the running when Bradley was appointed back in October.

His spell at Derby was ended last season with the side 5th in the table having been front runners for so long but he has a great track record of being an assistant at some of the top clubs in Europe including Real Madrid and currently Bayern Munich.

If the reports are accurate then he will take on what has become one of the hottest seats in the division as the Swans fifth manager (if you count Alan Curtis) in a little over twelve months and he will take over a side that currently sits bottom of the Premier League, four points from safety.

Clement will be selected as manager ahead of some other candidates that were reported to include Chris Coleman, Ryan Giggs and Harry Redknapp but clearly it would appear that the club feel he is best placed to take on the challenge that could well yet result in needing to be continued in the Championship next season.

One thing is certain from here is that Swans fans need to get behind the new man in charge and whilst we may not retain our Premier League status at the end of the season we have to ensure that we go down fighting and the way to do that is to be completely united behind the manager and the players starting on Saturday.

We should also ensure that Clement is a long term appointment for the club as well and even if we do end up being relegated at the end of the season he should be deemed to be here for the next season as well and tasked with bringing us back as well as recovering our identity.

We should though not give up on this season just yet and if Clement can get some early momentum out of his team then we could yet produce the escape that we all so desperately want

Welcome to Swansea Paul.
