We can only wonder how Russell Martin feels, and it’s match day remember ! Piroe ?
Tuesday, 1st Feb 2022 10:31 by Swans Indie Staff

With Ryan Longman’s transfer to Swansea from Brighton allegedly being stopped by the American majority owners of Swansea City when it all seemed sorted out, we have to turn to the effect of that on Russell Martin today.

Swansea City were all in for a Longman when it seemed he agreed to join Hull City instead. The only thing that we can think that affected the move would be Long an’s salary demands which obviously Hull City can match, and Swansea can’t. Hull’s new owners have a pot of cash as we’ve already looked at last week. We are certain Martin will be despondent and maybe now will have to use his own way of experiential learning to deal with the latest turn of events. Despite that the whole of January hasn’t been so bad with the quality of the players coming in.

Tonight we see Swansea City take on Luton Town at the Swansea.Com stadium in a game that many swans fans will see as key to the club winning back over an unhappy fan base. The majority of dissenters seem to be those younger supporters who have only experienced success from an early age, and the last three years or so in the championship. That said could it be that Joel Piroe tonight is rested ? He has had a lot on his shoulders and the chance to rest him could be taken by Russell Martin.

Joel Piroe in need of a rest ?

In fact we wouldn’t be at all surprised if Martin takes that option this evening.

Hannes Wolf will surely be given another shot in midfield after a none too good experience on Saturday at Hull. With Liam Walsh a late leaver to the same team last night he frees up a place for someone on the swans bench. Michael Obafemi really should be the chosen striker if Martin does make the decision to rest Piroe. Swansea fans will not be happy with that he is one player who actually deserves applauding for his efforts of late. New signing Nathanael Ogbeta is match fit but international clearance may hamper any debut until Saturday.

Tonight’s game kicks off at 7.45pm.

How wrong you are to suggest that the majority of dissenters come from a generation who have only known success in recent years. As a supporter of the club I love for over 60yrs I too dissent as do many older supporters to the distant, manipulative owners of this club who have taken us on a downward trajectory since they took over in 2016. Yesterdays debacle was just further evidence that they lack any ambition for the club other than to milk it for their investors. Russell Martin is now facing a reality check - which Potter and Cooper faced before him and escaped with their reputations intact. I doubt Martin will be so lucky.
