Good news for Swansea City’s game against West Bromwich Albion
Friday, 30th Sep 2022 11:26 by Swansea Independent

Russell Martin has spoken of players returning to the match day squad on the eve of Swansea City’s trip to the hawthorns this weekend. There’s good news too, and there’s nothing like hearing good news in amongst all the noise …

Isn’t that a great saying, up there with gaslighting.

The swans boss revealed the good news on Joe Allen and credited him with the good sense and foresight to withdraw himself from the last game against Hull City. “Joe is back in training. He’s been great," said Martin. "We’ve got to assess if tomorrow is the right time for him to start the game or not. He’s looked good in training. We were hopeful after the Hull game that it was only a minor one which it was”

The other good injury news is Joel Latibeaudiere, who has turned around the projected time out from three to four months to six weeks which is a remarkable return from injury. Liam Cullen won’t be back just yet after a similar injury to Latibeaudiere. Jamie Paterson hasn’t had the best of starts to this season and seems to be struggling with form and an undisclosed injury for some weeks. It’s unlikely we will see him in the squad tomorrow.

If Allen and Latibeaudiere do feature tomorrow, and it isn’t a one hundred percent call then it’s likely that will be from the bench. Martin has Luke Cundle in the frame, a player who definitely has the credentials to be a satisfactory replacement. Maybe we will see a bit more of Armstrong Oko -Flex as well. His pace has been remarked upon from one Swansea source as ‘Incredible and frightening’ Well, if that’s the case then let’s see some of that at the hawthorns tomorrow as West Bromwich Albion are most certainly beatable.

West Bromwich Albion v Swansea City kicks off tomorrow at 3pm.
