Ogbene wants to move from Rotherham United today ? Tuesday, 31st Jan 2023 15:35 by Swansea Independent Swansea City are still hopeful they can secure the services of Chiedozie Ogbene from Rotherham United this month. The issue up until now is the Millers are holding out for a huge fee for him to leave. Some reports state up to two million. ( report updated from yesterday ) We now know the fee is one million and the Swans will be in negotiations for the player. He has made it known he wants to leave and wants the matter settled quickly. However Ogbene was in training this morning in Rotherham. Ogbene this morning training with the Millers The Swans decided to wait in line to speak with Ogbene once the fee became far too much. They also have one eye on the summer when he can negotiate his own terms with whichever club he chooses. That though depends upon which club he prefers as he will become far more desirable to more clubs once he can discuss his own terms. There is of course still a pre contract agreement possibility too. The Swans will agree they have had conversations with Rotherham and some sources reported a bid was tabled. However, we do know there will be further discussions with Rotherham before the transfer window concludes at 11pm UK time tonight. There is still plenty of time to get in the players we understand Russell Martin and Josh Marsh would like. A right sided utility player, goalkeeper and right back are under consideration, but any thoughts of a transfer for Morgan Whittaker looks to have ended as we exclusively reported yesterday morning. That report is here –> Morgan in jeopardy Of course it’s never about being first, despite some people thinking it is, all we want to do is get the facts as right as we can, and that’s very difficult at this time of year. However, rest assured as it stands the Swans still want Ogbene and are secretly delighted Morgan Whittaker is potentially staying at Swansea City. That’s one forward they don’t have to pursue with the clock ticking on how long they can do business. More to follow on this.
