Despite seven days or so of speculation regards Swansea City being up for sale we have pretty much left the wonderful story lines and wagging tongues to do their worst, and they couldn’t even do that. However, it was fun to see it develop. Sometimes it’s best just to let things slide along and trust in the fact that despite the clubs lowly league position there’s very little cloak and dagger stuff going on behind the scenes.

We will of course leave the finely worded explanations regards January alone, that has been covered too much already. Our stance is quite simple, during that month conversations were taking place between a potential minor investor and the current majority owners which may or may not come to fruition at some point in the future. It didn’t mean that the club had taken their eye off the ball, they just didn’t have a ball they could see. That’s why Swansea City didn’t sign anyone.

They were never going to. Despite the Karlan Grant fantasy.

The good news is that Russell Martin again see’s his hard work with his coaching team paying off with the selection of Liam Cullen in to the Wales national squad this international break. The reason why the progress Liam has made is mentioned today in line with Russell Martin and Co is a simple one. If the head coach is to be slated for poor results and frustrating performances then when a player earns international recognition as a result of his clubs mentoring and coaching policy, then surely that’s something to report ?

For us that is a lot more interesting than some mythical figure who may or not be putting money into the club, possibly or maybe, potentially or otherwise whenever that may be. Be that when Steve Kaplan ( Director ) was in London, Saudi Arabia Church Village or Pembroke Dock. Oh, and let’s not forget Swansea either. Was Kaplan with an ‘advisor ‘ ? Maybe he was just carrying his briefcase ? Come on let’s start thinking straight, it’s not exactly James Bond secret service stuff it it ?

More importantly Nathan Wood, another to benefit from the clubs coaching path this season has earned a call up to the England Under 21 squad this week as well. That’s some fine news to be proud of alongside Ben Cabango and Ollie Cooper for Wales. And let’s not forget Olivier Ntcham getting more Cameroon recognition. The success below the first team shouldn’t go unrecognised either. Do we dish out plaudits too often or not enough ?

It comes to something when Swansea City supply one player to Cameroon and its more than Wales ‘capital city‘ club supply to their own countries Euro2024 qualifying squad this week. We haven’t seen it written anywhere else so thought it worthy of a mention. The pathway for players is clearly being recognised outside of the city, and indeed the country. The type of coaching and its progress at Fairwood continues to be reflected in international call ups for numerous countries. Anyone else doing that in Wales ?

The majority ownership have recognised this process, despite results in recent months. They obviously also recognise the value in the stability of this current coaching set up and its value to player development. Liam Cullen and Nathan Wood very much fit the much talked about player trading model. Liam from the academy and Nathan brought in for a minimal cost at the start of the season. This speaks volumes for the clubs longer term view regarding financial stability and player trading, which in turn supplies additional money to bring in more players of similar ilk.

That’s the ownership model that interests us, the way that Flynn Downes came in and was capitalised on for many millions of profit. Downes being the player that came to Swansea as a part of the Martin / Gill 2021 recruitment process to replace Steve Cooper. So, that’s where we are this morning, pretty much very happy with the progress of the clubs players and not really bothered about the laughable conjecture we’ve heard in recent days. Sometimes it’s best to say nothing and shrug your shoulders until something actually relevant happens, or is about to happen.

At least Wednesday can’t be as boring as Tuesday can it ?

I would be hard to go through another season like the last two! I'm not being disrespectful towards Russell Martin but his game plan is all to predictable and it not going to take this club forward! I hear Michu is looking for a job😃🤔!
