Paul Watson agrees his Swansea move ‘in principle’ Swans hierarchy aware of Nathan Jones issue
Tuesday, 23rd May 2023 08:00 by @Cornish67David

Exclusive : Luton Town Chief Operating Officer, Paul Watson has agreed ‘in principle’ to become Swansea City’s new ‘ Director Of Football Operations’ after the play off final between the Hatters and Coventry City on Saturday.

Watson, who was in talks with the Swans three weeks ago stalled on an agreement with Swansea City but now has agreed in principle to come to the Swansea.Com stadium this summer. As we reported yesterday Watson did advise Swansea City he would like to see Nathan Jones at the Swans but it’s an appointment too far at the moment. Even the Swansea City majority ownership are aware that Jones would be potentially the ‘worst move’ they could make with the current negative sentiment towards them. However, we have been told that a summer of serious hope is ahead for Swansea City, and as the weeks progress Swans fans will be more than happy with what is planned ahead.

That’s talk, and talk isn’t as cheap as people say in football.

Our Watson report from yesterday is here –> Nathan Jones clarified

The club are expected to announce a complete refurbishment of positions throughout the off the field structure over the coming weeks. Watson is the start and what follows will be more about solid appointments that encourage followers of the Swans. We shall see, but in no way are the majority ownership anything but positive on what can now be achieved. The first main issue is the next Swansea manager and we can reveal today that irrespective of Martin’s future elsewhere, and how that pans out he won’t be at Swansea City next season.

The new manager appointment is the priority now and after a week of upheaval we can only hope the majority ownership pull through with good news stories now Martin and Matt Gill are no longer a part of the club.

As news happens we will of course give you the best context on every decision ahead.

There are other managers I would prefer to Nathan Jones.
But, Cooper is worshiped by many and Toshack is a Swansea legend.
The reason Jones would be a poor appointment is it would give those who constantly moan something else to obsess over.
