Duff : I’m pretty certain there will be movement in and out ‘ Piroe talk’
Friday, 18th Aug 2023 07:30 by @Cornish67David

Swansea City head coach Michael Duff has made it fairly clear that players will be moving away from the club over the next two weeks - and indeed some more new faces will arrive.

On Joel Piroe (below) we here at the Indy are fully aware of the clubs who have inquired about Joel Piroe, and there are a handful of clubs interested in him. The reports of interest from abroad and in the UK are as accurate as they are informed, and to be honest not a lot is a secret. Duff though remains indifferent as to his goal scorers future. “As far as I’m aware I don’t think there’s been a ‘concrete’ bid. So, I just deal with the players. His performance wasn’t great last week, but there was a few players who went missing with the ball last week. He’s not the only one but he’s allowed a game off. So, am I surprised ? Probably, because he’s a good player, but the flip side to that is yiu would be disappointed if nine of your players were linked anywhere, because basically you wouldn’t have a very good squad”

Duff also confirmed that no bids as yet have been received for Matt Grimes ( below ) have been received, but you had to look at his reaction more than listen to his words when he responded in the negative. We genuinely believe there will be inquiries and very credible ones for the Swans captain in the coming week or so.

On Bashir Humphreys again it’s no secret that the Swans have been in direct discussion for the player with Chelsea, we reported this in the week.

That report is here —> Bashir in demand

On that Duff commented, “I was asked that question last week, and I said I wouldn’t mention players because it’s not fair, so he’s one of a few players we are looking at. We don’t just look at one player, there’s five or six ( in each position ) we’ve been looking at, he’s one we’ve been linked with, there’s nothing to report”

The Swans clearly do expect players to come in and the net spend according to the head coach when you compare players coming in and leaving is around equal. However is there more to come ? “ If no one leaves the building I think we are two short, possibly three. But I’m pretty certain there will be movement in and out, because I’ve been in the game thirty years and you don’t go in to the last two weeks of the transfer window and no one moves, in or out”

Clear notice there then that there will be more business done by the club in what has been a remarkable summer all told. With so many coming in, and clearly more business to follow we will continue to see a very different Swansea City to the one which fell just short of the play offs last season.
