Swansea City : It’s right here and right now for Luke
Saturday, 16th Mar 2024 07:25 by Swansea Independent

Swansea head coach, Luke Williams has limited derby day experience as a coach but seems to have cottoned on to the fact that Swansea City must not lose todays home game against Cardiff City. It’s that simple.

Leading up to the game we have seen a variety of media reports siding with the away side, which as we will explore later comes with a complete lack of care and and plenty of bias towards West Wales.

Luke Williams talked all things ‘THE Welsh derby’ yesterday and we have included the full interview in this report. That’s below,

A good few points there to ponder over.

Making reference to his previous experience of the derby ensures he understands the importance of today. In Luke’s first experience of the derby the Swans won 3-0 under Russell Martin. Today Mykola has a small foot problem which rules him out for this game, although the first information on this had to be literally dragged out of Luke a week or so ago. He looks quite uncomfortable talking about the Ukrainian. Of course Liam Walsh and Josh Ginnelly are long term casualties.

Luke has described last weekends efforts at Bristol City as frustrating but took positives from the game, unfortunately that is something we cannot agree with. However, as we have seen when the Swans have been riding high and Cardiff were below Swansea at times in the late seventies and eighties the Welsh Cup was a great leveller. Form counts for nothing.

Luke comes across as someone who understands this match, who talks the right game and can inspire his side to a win today. We can’t ask much more than that. More on this rivalry later.
