Serbia 🇷🇸 v England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Match Thread

The Euros were in France in 2016. I went to 2 games but didn't want any tickets for England, as I knew how obnoxious some of the English fans would be.

I find it hard that people can deny man-made climate change, in the face of so much scientific evidence. I don't think UK, alone, can make a huge difference. However, if you accept that climate change is real, then it makes sense to try and do something about it, however limited.
UK has not really invested in renewables to the extent necessary. Maybe, transitioning from fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) is the correct approach. Can it bring sufficient jobs and make a tangible impact? I don't have the answers, but I'm sure therre are experts out there who can.

Having England as favourites seems hopelessly optimistic to me.
No issue with the attacking side but, I can't see how any selectable English defence is going to cope with Germany, Spain, France.

They should qualify from the group, then lose in QF or SF

Or Marti is still on holiday/preparing for QPR pre season/discussing potential targets with our Recruitment team.
Or maybe he doesn't read all the social media crap.

If you think immigration is the only important issue in this GE, then you should vote Reform.
Anybody else should have a peek at their other policies and will, almost certainly, conclude they are batshit crazy and/or unaffordable and/or unrealistic.
Who wants to see NHS replaced by US style insurance? Or economic policies that make Truss look like a paragon of common sense.

I'm not sure that any party are prepared to address young people's concerns.

Zero hour jobs, student loans, lack of investment in training, rocketing house prices, lack of affordable housing for those lucky enough to save a deposit. Unless the bank of mum and dad can help, the future looks like younger people having less than their parents.
I wish I could offer something positive but for those without that parental leg-up, but it looks fairly bleak.

Truss did. Look where that got her.

It's an obvious, simplistic answer but even Starmer won't claim its going to be easy. UK growth has been anaemic for 16 years.

Flights from Limoges, our local airport, to Paris have stopped. Because the train will get you between those 2 cities in 90 minutes.
I went to Lille for the Rugby World Cup. 4 trains there and 4 back. 4 of the journies were First Class and total cost was €160. All were clean, comfortable and on time.
Shows what you can do when you invest in trains. How's HS2 progressing?

UK hasnt got enough available workers to fill numerous low paid positions. Either through not being fit for work or a life on benefits. The former affected by 7.5m on NHS waiting lists. The care sector, hospitality and construction are dependent on immigrant workers who are unlikely to earn £38k.
Generally, immigrants are young, out of education and going to work for a long time. I remember figures showing immigrants paying more tax per head than native workers. So I really dont understand where you get your figures from.

This is embarrassing. Scotland are dreadful. Barely put a pass together. Germany have looked good, but they dont need to.

I think Armstrong needs to become a 10-15 goal preseason striker, starting this year. If he can't then he's not going to get a big money move. If he does show the results, we need to get him tied down ASAP. On a long, lucrative contract, with decent release clauses.

I xant see any logical reason why Marti would quit QPR for Sunderland. Burnley maybe, as they would expect to be challenging for a PL return.

Similar with Clarke-Salter and rumoured interest from Stoke. Why Jake that jump when PL clubs sniffing around.

That's a view, not one I agree with, but it doesnt solve the issues of labour shortages At least, not for the many years it takes to train up UK staff. Even if you can get them to take the jobs.
Pre-brexit, health care and hospitality had large numbers of non-UK nationals. Quite a large % moved on as the environment became more unwelcoming..

We all get that you are a Tory supporter who is prepared to excuse v all the errors that have been made over the last 14 years.
But you're changing course more often and sharper than a downhill skier.

So you have significant labour shortages in nursing, social care, hospitality, construction. If you aren't prepared to accept immigration, what's your solution?

I never claimed it was a good, or even acceptable, option. But it may prove to be something we'll have to consider. Especially if the other choices are equally unpalatable.

Its not just Either/Or. There is a 3rd option (see Japan) where the retirement age is increased to 70. Or even higher.

Brexit has been a failure and was a Tory encouraged policy. So they don't want to talk about it. Add that Johnson purged Tory remainers.
V all the RW media promotes Brexit so would slaughter any Labour suggestion of Rejoin.

Rejoin won't be an option until all.major parties want to do so. SM = return of FOM. Every chance UK would have to adopt Euro and join Schengen.
