5 Things About The Birmingham Game 10:26 - Dec 8 with 744 viewsSaintNick

1. I went in the Northern fanzone where Bruce Grobellaar was the guest interviewee, I didn't mind him when he was at Saints as a goalkeeper, I met him once in the toilets of a bar by Anfield, he was arrogant, he loved the Liverpool fans coming up to him, when I told him I was a Saints fan he was quite cold and dismissive, on Saturday he told the Saints fans what they wanted to hear, I suspect many didn't really know the controversy surrounding his time at the Dell, as someone said to me about his words "He told us what we wanted to hear", he remains an arrogant tw*t who admitted that this was his first ever visit to St Mary's but failed to mention how much he was paid to attend.

2. A decent crowd, more than attended two years ago in their last visit, I hope that there will be a few more in the home sections tomorrow as I don't think West Brom will bring many down.

3. Tonda Eckert has made a great start to his tenure as Saints manager, surely this must be the best ever start by any Saints manager, he endeared himself even more by kicking the ball away at the end.

4. All the focus is on how much Azaz & Fellows etc have improved under Tonda, but spare a thought for Gavin Bazunu, he is getting better with each game and you can see his confidence returning, Eckert could yet make him the keeper he has the potential to be.

5. I like the way that Eckert manages games, he get the team in a winning position and then makes sure that we don't lose it, we rode our luck a couple of times, but every team has to do that during games.

Never liked Grobbelaar when he was at Saints. Wasn't half as good as he thought he was.

Maybe we could get close to a full house for the Cov game.

Loved the Eckert kick in to the crowd. Also loved it when Sciensa waved to the crowd when laying down for the wall. We want some character!!! That is what has been missing. Eckert has character, we were all singing his name at the end of the game. He is a clever guy, who knows his fanbase and what we want.

Grobbelaar? I hope someone counted the silver!

What an absolute cvnt. Saints 2 Tottenham 6. Need I say more?

I spent some time with the News International legal team when he was up before the beak; let’s just say he’s an interesting “character”…

Other than that - there were a lot of Birmingham fans but I was surprised how quiet they were.
