Any hardened drinkers fans of Tweedy Pubs on YouTube? A friend put me on to him recently. He goes round London picking out distinctive looking pubs, talking about their history and architecture. Very engaging and dare I say moreish, I loved his one on Kilburn, some strong connections for me there. Not his fault he looks like David Cameron’s younger brother. Apparently he does some bizarre wild camping videos too, Tweedy outdoors. |

Oi! School night. I loved that, nearly as excited at finding Apple Tango as going to the game. Lovely naïve enthusiasm for Lyndon Dykes too. Do you think the accent gets thicker every day of your life there? |

I get the feeling that Jimmy doesn’t do his ten thousand steps every day, Dave-O. |

No, you’re right. I remembered the deliciously evil method, but the force of the header added to the eruption. Falco was fantastic. One of those players who arrived unexpectedly and left just as abruptly, without us having a chance to properly appreciate what we were losing. [Post edited 10 Dec 23:20]

With five minutes to go, Birmingham pushed three up right against our backline for a goal kick - then passed it around the back for another minute. Burrell and Kone came off life support for long enough to chase them around. I’m too dumb to read the strategic advantage behind the plan, but someone is being paid handsomely for this stuff. |

After about fifteen minutes, I worried we were in for a long night. Nardi’s nervous nellying on the ball, Madsen taking the ball under pressure facing his own goal (guess which direction it’s going). Varane with his random pass generator on. Then Nardi started kicking long and Birmingham just…disappeared. I thought last night that they were between overrated and bad. Expensive and/or established Championship players with no idea of how they were supposed to play together or no enthusiasm for the plan. I’d have been livid if I had travelled down to watch such a meagre sum derived from those parts. On reflection today, maybe their main problem was that they were playing us. It’s hard to put your finger on how we’re going to beat anyone. It’s not the sweeping breaks of the best of Warburton’s side, it’s not the clever wide overloads finishing in a cutback of Beale’s brief purple patch, just run hard and fast, compete for the ball and if you can’t win it high up the pitch, get it up there as efficiently as possible. Without thuggery or dark arts, we’ve become (at our best) a bit of a nightmare to play against, which is novel. Burrell is scoring goals from chaos in the box at a rate not seen since John Spencer and Andy Thomson, but he works much harder than they ever did, like his teammates, but he wouldn’t have the opportunity to do the same under any of our recent managers. I’m still getting used to it, but I think I like it. |

There was New Year’s game in the late 80s against a niggly, playacting Norwich team who’d fluked a goal and clung onto it into injury time. Mark Falco forced it over the line in an ugly melee, sending a cold, wet, pissed-off and not particularly big crowd completely crackers. Best meaningless point ever. |

Deflected too (Fitz Hall’s shot?). A total miracle of a save. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it on video. |

You got a good idea of where the for-sale seats were last night…lots of empty part rows in A & B, lower school end and, surprisingly, loft left side (from my view) upper and lower. Lots of no shows in the SBS season tickets, six in a row directly in front of me. Not preaching, this was my first win since Derby in February. One absolute sell out though…Directors Box and W12 area. Was it a Christmas party special promotion of Tom Brady’s entourage? It certainly stood out. |

Thanks, but requires signing to a seven day trial - it’s worth it! Still got the Californian hair, the lucky sod. |

Barry has a book out and he’s interviewed in today’s Telegraph - can’t link as it’s paywalled. Hilariously, grotesquely bizarre. Calls himself the Silk, Mickie Most wanted him to sing “Gonna Write a Classic”, one of the worst songs ever, until fate intervened. Can any subscriber with a share token get it linked? In the Hall of Fame with de Bruyne. And Tommy Langley. After last season’s false start, maybe Slot is Clough to Klopp’s Revie after all. [Post edited 7 Dec 11:08]

Thanks for the Dubai reminders, it has all the appeal of an airport terminal full of rseholes, as sickly as the chocolate. I’ve always liked the sound of Oman though. I do have a plan for walking in one of the US desert national parks too. [Post edited 4 Dec 23:09]

There’s still time to track down Arthur Scargill if you’re so inclined Ted, still going at 87. Last time I heard he was in his Presidential Suite in the Barbican. My bucket list would include tests in Galle and Dharamshala, State of Origin, a big SEC game likeTennessee v Alabama and River Plate v Boca Juniors, but a trip to Istanbul is next on my list. On the F-it list, I’ve never seen the appeal of Vegas, much less renewing my marriage vows in front of an Elvis impersonator. The Trans Siberian railway always seemed like a pointless ordeal to me as well. [Post edited 4 Dec 21:04]
