The original is in the basement of the building next door. It’s been, or being turned into a sports bar. They turned me down when I asked if I could take a peek, then relented after I told ‘em I’d played in there when a kid. Still just exposed brick walls with a stage, though that may be going.

Spent a few hours in the Cavern Club…actually, ok for a drink.
Then went over to Eric’s and didn’t recognize the place, barman filled me in on the changes over the years. |

BTW…we chose the Anchor in Digbeth for pre match drinks, primarily because it was the first one in the area to open. That said, we knew it was a good choice right away as opening time was greeted with a loud blast of Anarchy in the UK over the airwaves, the music selection pretty much mirroring most of my record collection for the next three hours. Old school boozer, friendly natives, pints average six quid a go, not a bad stop for future visits. [Post edited 18 Oct 10:06]
