Gary Neville saying that United's new midfield not good enough because they bought cheap this summer. Only £100m on Tielemans and Baleba. Entitled tw@ts.
He was decent but there were two negatives from me.
He seemed very quick off the mark to start the countdowns for us taking throw-ins or Charles releasing the ball (even signalling sometimes for resumptions where that law doesn't apply!) but he was much less sharp with Swansea. Obviously we would have wasted time and they wouldn't so much but that doesn't make it right.
The other one was his urgency in shoving Kemper off the pitch when he was substituted. It was obvious he was limping and injured and he's still shoving him. The match was over by that time, it was petty and unnecessary.
With so many of the first team squad either injured or away on internationals I suspect the main DS players were needed to make 1st team training work.
One thing I will say though is that the attack behaviours you describe aren't solely a QPR thing, or even a football thing, it's a 2026 thing. Nuanced thinking is so last century.
England don't really need two holding midfielders against 10 men, either Skelly or Anderson to get a rest second half with some more attacking intent coming on instead.
Also bring the young Liverpool lad on instead of the continually ineffective Saka.
Manager has said there is at least one behind closed doors friendly arranged this week. I’d assume Obikwu is more likely to be involved there. Perhaps also explains why this was a younger dev squad with others having to be involved in that match.
The players I enjoy(ed) watching... Who smiled through games and made me smile. Not the best, not the worst but who had fun and made many matches fun to be at.
Difficult to make any kind of formation work but here goes...
Paddy Kenny
Jimmy Dunne Terry Mancini Alan McDonald Taye Taiwo
Albert Adomah Stan Bowles Eberechi Eze Adel Taarabt
MOTM is Edwards Well played to Kamara, Scarlett and Charles. The rest were ok/middling. Vale needs to do more, he needs to allow for his painful lack of pace by better positioning. Overall a good draw in a match we’d be nailed on to lose in recent years. Finally a big eff off to West Midlands Police & Railways for unnecessarily being a bunch of shi1s to the R’s fans at the station.
PS. As others have said, that’s a crap homer ref who pee’d me off more than once.
I count myself fortunate to have seen Marsh, Bowles and Taarabt play. Rodney and Stan were better players but Adel was without doubt the most talented man to pull on the hoops.
So many great moments. The goal against West Ham seems to get forgotten, I love how the whole hammers defence are just watching it go in, open mouthed and stunned.
Ref was very poor. Usually when a ref gets in a teams way it’s just unfortunate but his positioning was truly woeful.
Team all played well, Kone the exception but he needs our support not people slagging him of as I heard today.
I’m disappointed but not unhappy. Boro played well and looked like a team who’d spent many millions but still needed to play the dark arts to get anything. We deserved more.
