All credit to you Clive that you haven't yet reached the stage of the one word review followed by the player ratings. Appreciate the report and understand your complete frustration.
Spot on Dave. I think you've written the bulk of Clive's match report for him and he deserves a day off after all the pain he he's had to re-live writing recent reports on our 'performances'.
I'm actually starting to wonder whether it would be worth a relegation this season to wake up the owners and get them to clear out the chancers currently running our Club.
Thanks Robith for the tips and the thinking behind them.
At least the next 4 afternoons will provide a bit of welcome relief from thinking about the awful state of our football club at the moment. Birmingham to win to nil tomorrow at 2-1 certainly looks a value bet at the moment. I couldn't believe Boro were not odds-on (Evens with Betfair Exchange) to win ahead of the match on Sunday.
In view of last two performances and the ongoing injury situation I can only see us moving down rather than up. Will be very relieved when we get the 3-4 points that should guarantee safety.
Spot on with some of your comments such as Sinclair’s goal and Varane’s head LOL. Maybe if he had it on backwards as well it might result in a few more forward passes!
Agree that Bennie shows similarities to Ainsworth and that thunderbolt yesterday was trademark Gareth.
The other player he reminds me of is Stuart Wardley. Limited technical ability but a great eye for goal. Bennie's had some close efforts in previous first team appearances and his goal scoring record for the Development side is very impressive. He's certainly not scared to have a shot and I think he can be a useful member of our first team squad in years to come and would be improved further by the right loan next season.
Very frustrating series of results against the weaker teams which shows how reliant we are on key players such as Chair and Burrell. Unless we get them back soon I suspect we will have a very disappointing end to the season.
Thanks Jamie. Comprehensive report which was a very fair reflection of the game. Sounds like a lot of hassle getting into and away from the ground. Glad I gave it a miss.
Thanks Clive. Very enjoyable reading that report and reliving a wonderful afternoon.
Definitely our best full match team performance this season. Agree with lots of 7's and your two 8's in the ratings. Difficult choice between Kone & Madsen for MOTM as both were outstanding. I think Madsen edged it thanks to his positive attitude in retrieving the ball after the equaliser, but totally understand many fans opting for Kone. A nice debate to have.
I'm a big fan of this tactic as it really annoys me when teams bring everyone back to defend corners. Invariably if the ball gets cleared the opponents have another chance to launch it into the box with their big men still up and keep the pressure on.
I think it suits us well as we invariably have a least two small players (perm any 2 from Chair, Smyth, Dembele, Saito & Poku) on the pitch at any time. They offer very little defensively at corners but could be a real threat on the break.
I think two left up is sufficient and means the penalty box is less congested for defending the corner, but all credit to Stephan for really going for it yesterday with three left up front. It worked well and long may it continue.
The 'head-it-and-kick-it centre back performance for the ages from Jimmy Dunne' reminded me so much of the one by his countryman and namesake Richard in the Play-Off Final. Great to have him leading the team by example.
