I'm glad you gave such praise to JS who is proving to be a superb manager for us. It was wonderful to see him smiling so match in the post-match interviews after a difficult week for him leading up to the match.

I'm gutted I wasn't there to see it myself as I had tickets for Cheltenham races purchased months ago before the fixtures came out. However it probably contributed to the result, as I manage to miss all our great home performances, including the Leeds game you referenced in the report. Looking forward to watching the full 90 mins on the Club website this afternoon.

Just watch Vale for the third goal. Ball is cut back behind him and he then decides to go to ground to block an imaginary shot. If he stayed on his feet there might have been some chance of him blocking the actual goal scoring shot.

Thanks so much for that piece, Clive. Fitting tribute to the genius that is Adel and it brought back some wonderful memories. I still can’t comprehend how he didn’t win our POTY award in the promotion season.

It’s great you didn’t gloss over his flaws and loved the line ‘But when we say “if you’re playing for QPR there must be something wrong with you” there is a picture of Adel Taarabt’s face next to that.’ The true heir to Marsh & Bowles.

'Fourteen Days in May' is one of the two best documentary films I've ever seen It's very moving and certainly influenced my viewpoint on capital punishment. It can only operate where you have a flawless justice system and sufficient safeguards against wrongful executions. It certainly should not operate anywhere in the USA where the justice system is weighted against the disadvantaged.

By coincidence, the latest (and final) episode of my other all-time favourite documentary is being aired soon with 'Seventy Up' scheduled for broadcast on ITV in mid-September.

I’m not normally a fan of short corners but think we should have tried a few today. Every delivery by Chair into the area was either claimed/cleared by the keeper or headed away by their cast of extras from Land of the Giants. I know Chair is probably under orders from the coaching team but when something obviously isn’t working, try something different!

Could easily have earned two assists but let down by bad finishing. First one was a classy outside of the foot pass which left a team mate one on one with the Rangers keeper which was wasted by a pathetic attempt at a lob.

Deserved win for Mayo. Very pleased for them to finally get over the line after so many near misses in the last 75 years.
