Pompey Caterers Go Bust
at 10:15 17 Feb 2026

Is it true they were selling pies with the Saints badge on top at the derby match? Their muppets were having a moan about it apparently. Did anyone try one?

I Wonder How Many Saints Fans Left Way Before The End
at 10:56 11 Feb 2026

The way I looked at it, if the roles were reversed and we were 3-0 up at HT and then conceded a goal we would be absolutely crapping ourselves (like the WBA game earlier in the season). Our bench was very strong, and Leicester are down the bottom for a reason (well, a couple of reasons), so while I didn't think we would win it, it was never beyond the realms of possibility that we would get back into the game.
Seeing the HT meltdown on social media was hilarious. Do these idiots never learn? All they have to do is put down their phone for 45 minutes and wait until the final whistle before venting their anger, or declaring their undying love for the club.

Getting in the play offs is doable isn't it?
at 20:39 8 Feb 2026

I think one or two people are getting carried away with all this play-off talk. We should be much more realistic and settle for a mid-table finish and winning the FA Cup.

First gig
at 09:16 8 Feb 2026

Officially The Wombles at the Gaumont in the late 1970s, but hopefully that doesn't count, so it would be The Police at the same venue in July 1982. I recall Sting saying he'd gone to the same school as Big Lawrie. My next gig there was The Alarm and the late great Mike Peters played OWTS on his harmonica, which was good of him since he was a huge Man U fan. Such a shame bands don't play there anymore, saw some great gigs there over the years.

Jim Branning leading a singalong at St Mary's is still one of the most bizarre things I've seen at a Saints game.

Southampton At Portsmouth 1984

Incredible day out. Strange to think that apart from the addition of a few seats and some cheap roofs, the Old Slag's hardly changed at all since 1984. And the mentality of the locals doesn't appear to have changed much either.

5 Things About Doncaster
at 14:35 12 Jan 2026

It was one of the finest displays I've ever seen at a Saints away game. The starlings, that was. The way they all combined at the very moment Donny scored their first goal was incredible to watch. Much better than the standard fireworks and light show we get.

Perhaps it's you they don''t like. After all, you do seem to spend a lot of the time on here slagging off our fans and saying how shit we all are. And thinking about it, the atmosphere definitely improved with about 10 minutes to go yesterday. Just saying...

It was in response to the Millwall fans' chant, and not aimed at THB at all. Unfortunately Taylor chose that moment to lump the ball into touch.

Saints v Coventry
at 11:38 21 Dec 2025

My take on it was that those last few minutes were fantastic entertainment. Firstly, Tonda sending Baz up for the corners was a bit mad/scary, and then the Lampard thing. Lampard had already pissed me off long before that. He literally sprinted to his little monitor after the penalty appeal, and then spent the next few minutes shouting at the 4th official. He also ran to the monitor after the red card, but, oddly enough, didnt come back to berate the 4th official that time.
Anyway, who started this pathetic thing where managers, the coaching staff and every other Tom. Dick and Harry on the bench have to come on to the pitch at the end of a game? In my day, win or lose, the manager was straight down the tunnel. The players too. If someone had woken up from a coma yesterday and seen Coventry celebrating, they'd have been forgiven for thinking Cov had just won the fecking Champions League. Everyone should just calm down.

I didn't play for the Travellers, although I've played against them a few times. They were always a really nice bunch. I played a couple of seniors games with Graham Baker.

Did you play with Graham Baker for the Travellers? I've played a few games with him, he's a great bloke.

Why Is There So Much Hate On Saints Social Media
at 08:46 16 Dec 2025

People have always been angry, but nowadays with social media it's so easy to spout out all that anger and hatred. In my day, if you wanted to moan about something you literally had to pick up a pen, write a letter, buy a stamp, go to the postbox and post it. By the time you'd done all that you'd generally forgotten what you were angry about. I mean, how many of those on here who post message after message about certain players would actually go to the trouble of writing a letter to the Echo or the club about it? It would cost Saint22 a fortune in stamps.
