If Wilcox had stayed then firstly we wouldn't have signed the dross that we did in the summer of 2024.
Secondly he would have counselled Russell Martin about the way he needed to play in the Premier League to get the best out of his players and if Martin hadn't been listening he would have sacked him a lot earlier.
The real issue wasn't so much the style of play, but the degree to which it was implemented, with no leeway allowed for the players to clear their lines.
Tonda likes his team to play from the back and not hoof it, but he gives his player the freedom to play out if in trouble. |

Ross Steward could have played in 12 League games for Swansea, he has been unfit an not in the squad for 8 of them.
He had been an unused sub in another 2 and came off the bench just twice the first for 9 mins and the second for 25.
I agree we miss Stewart and that Mubama is not the answer, but if we had kept Stewart, he would not have been much use to us it would seem, although in fairness I think his agents brought it on him by trying to hold out for the best deal money wise instead of the best club playing wise, meaning he had no pre season and Swansea have not managed his injury as we did.
We need to get through to January and then make two key signings in the areas we need |

Some good points well made, Dobbin scored regularly in the Championship last season and gives us different options.
I think Mubama is not rated by Tonda, I would not be surprised for him to return to City in January and we get in a replacement on loan |

Take your tin hat off, he wasn't at the club when Bazunu arrived in the summer of 2022

I think I must be one of a select band of Saints supporters who have seen Downs score, we were discussing this on the train on Saturday.
My moment came in the pre season friendly at Espanyol's training ground at the start of last season and there could not have been more than 10 Southampton supporters in the ground..
However I wasn't there at Braunschweig to see him double his Saints tally, there were probably 60 or so there to see that.
I would hazard a guess that there are no more than 3 people who have seen him score both, some of you on here will be well aware of who they will be |

Im happy for him to do that at United, thankfully he didn't do that at Saints, when he arrived we had to build a new squad and he did so, Ryan Manning, Ross Stewart, Shea Charles came in permanently and then he used the loan market well.
David Brookes, Flynn Downes, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Ryan Fraser & Joe Rothwell all came on loan and played big parts in our Promotion.
Our issues back in the Premier League all came because Wilcox had left and had not been replaced |

I dont think that was Peretz's best overall game, he made some great saves, but he also flapped a lot at crosses when they packed the box, he also spilled one of their shots.
Still a good performance from him and possibly man of the match, but we rode our lucj a little too much for comfort |

1. Yes the place is a nightmare and the stewards are clueless, I had my ticket on someone elses phone and couldnt get on to the seating area to with him in the crowd, you would think I was trying to break into Fort Knox the lengths they went to stop me walking on to the lower seating area without a ticket. They were threatening to throw me out for not having a ticket till he turned up.
2. I was going to go to howling Hops, but we started in a pub the other side of Hackney Wick station and it was so good that we stayed there drinking a selection of bottled German beers.
3. As I said in number 1 it was ridiculous
4. You are right there the ground was about 3/4 empty by the 75th minute and half empty by the 85th . they seemed to have little faith in their team.
5. They should fear us, but watching the highlights we got away with a lot, Peretz made some great saves, but also flapped a lot at crosses in the 6 yard box and missed some as well. |

Why is it utter trash ?
Fact of the situation was that VVD was tapped up by Liverpool in the summer of 2016, he was pictured on a private jet that Liverpool flew him up to Merseyside on to illegally show him around their facilities.
We dug our heels in after both the player and Liverpool FC plotted being our backs and tried to force a cut price move.
Hence we refused to let him move in the Summer of 2017 for under our valuation and made him stay until January
So tell me what your take on it was |

I think that as you say nothing could be done because of the situation and that now they will sit down and talk, the week or so after the verdict was announced saw us playing 3 games so little time for discussions

The difference between Keegan & VVD, was that Keegan left on a point of principle, he felt that Lawrie had called him a cheat, it wasn't about money or a bigger club, it was about principles and he dropped into the Second Division and retired from England.
Saints could have kept him there was no freedom of contract but back then the board were men of honour and understood the situation
VVD was purely about money and paying for a big club and forcing a move. |
