I bumped into Lowe outside the team hotel in Bucharest the dsy of the game.
Told him at 1-1 from first leg, I thought we still had good chance of getting through to next round,
His response was it wasn’t worth getting through as we didn’t make any money from progressing.
Hated him ever since, and his putting us into Administration days after we could have taken a points deduction the year we were going to get relegated in 2009, made my stance regards him even stronger |

Strange how the fixtures work out
After loads of home games in February we are now set for 4 successive home games from Feb 28th to March 14th, although I think the Norwich home game will probably get rearranged before the Fulham game.
Away support still looking pretty good for the 3 away games on sale so far
1,300 sold for West Brom so far with 3 weeks still to go before this game
Top tier sold out, and only 15 of the current batch of 580 tickets made available so far left for Sheff Weds, so would guess a little over 3k sold so far, possibly more
And 1300 out of the 2,127 allocation for Coventry sold after the first day when tickets only available to those with 18+ away games
I’m sure whatever the allocation I’m sure we will sell out Fulham, so it looks like a busy few weeks for those travelling away, with them travelling a fair few miles in a two week period

The trend seems to have bucked
Already sold out top tier at Sheff Weds, bottom tier now on sale with over 3,100 already sold, 90% of those before Tuesday night

Fortunately we applied the 4 goal rule, so stayed, but know a few others who left at half time.
Having suffered the Tranmere defeat all those years ago it was great to be there on the other end of coming back from 3-0 down at half time
Scenes at the end unbelievable, but most importantly the fans were still getting behind Saints in second half, even before we got our first goal, and after that goal we’re willing team on, as the other momentum once Stewart came on changed completely.
Full credit to the 1,000 Saints fans there last night, as PatfromPoole would say it’s not always about number of away fans, but what level of support they give the team. [Post edited 11 Feb 12:23]

No the facts say several games before Pompey went on general sale, which go against what you stated
Also the sales show that more than double the amount of tickets have been sold than the 400 you stated
I know there were a number, not hoards, who bought tickets for away games purely to get Pompey tickets, but there are still more than 2,000 supporters who go to pretty much every Saturday away game, a bit less for some midweek
I would sugggest away supporters who actual attend games, confirm numbers of loyal fans are way greater than those who bought tickets just for Pompey, but never said either group better than the other like you have, just saying despite everything our away support is still good, and numbers wise better than Pompeys.
For example we took 3k to Derby, Pompey 2k |

Only game currently on general sale Leicester.
Stoke was too, but that was for 12.30 kick off game live on TV, and earlier in the season Blackburn, Sheff Utd. Norwich and Hull all went on general sale but that doesn’t suit your agenda
Considering how we have performed generally away from home, imo our support had been pretty good. |

Actually 850 sold for Leicester, in Blocks M2 and M3 only, not great, but given limited period between date being announced at game not too bad, and comparable with what Leicester brought to us when they had 3 months notice.
Only 36 of the initial 2,400 left for Sheff Weds, which is not yet on sale to those with 1 or 2 aways, with 3 weeks to go before the game.
over 750 sold for West Brom with more than a month to that game despite being only available to those with 9+ aways so far. [Post edited 8 Feb 11:45]

Mine was Elton John in 1976 at The Gaumont on few weeks after we won the cup, he kept on mentioning cup win during the set.
As gigs was on a Saturday night, he finished appropriately with Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting [Post edited 8 Feb 11:59]

Although Leicester sales still not great, we’ve already sold over 1,800 for Sheff Weds and they only went on sale this morning so sales for away games generally standing up well |

We’ve sold 2,100 for Stoke, pretty good imo for a 12.30 kick off with game live on TV, and Leicester tickets only went on sale Monday and had sold around 650 already by last night also not bad
away support may fall a bit, but remember we sold out pretty much every game away last season despite us being sh*t [Post edited 28 Jan 20:04]

Organised coach down from Salisbury
Pick up a few lads from Regents hotel on way down.
Dropped off outside Fratton station, walked to grpund with no issues before the game
After game no issues until whilst waiting outside Fratton station for coaches to arrive.
As our group got approached by a few Pompey lads involved in a bit of fisticuffs before boarding our coach back to civilisation ,
Great day out, with the goal silencing the Blue Few signing Scummers, Scummers here we come perfectly |

Not a pretty game, low on quality, we wernt great, but at least we didn’t lose.
However the most important thing for me was the attitude of the players
On several occasions particularly we’ve just thrown in the towel at Fratton Park, but today most of the team gave it everything, back four superb and Jander and Downes great too.
Downes who’s not been great this season gave it his all, with some superb hard hitting challenges.
Shame many of these players don’t put this level of effort in every week. |
