Would Bannon from WBA
at 15:31 26 Jan 2026

Bruce Bannon even in his 70s wouldn’t have allowed that sort of space at Wrexham’s corner

Perhaps sign Steve Bannon to play on the right wing.

When we inevitably don’t put it right he looks more silly. Expect nothing and you’ll never be disappointed.

I think Walsh should get flak for both the second and third goals along with various others but mistakes are more forgivable than utter stupidity. Still annoyed at his first yellow he talked himself into.

Hindsight is great and all that but surely with the players available you move Dunne or Hayden to right-back and Field in the middle if you’re moving Dunne and have actual defenders defending. Was like they were all stood in entirely random positions between the ball and goal.

Edwards was of course the obvious move given the players available on the bench but even bringing on Adamson to play wide or effectively a second right-back would have made some sense just to get a knackered player off. I think it’s possible he just forgot entirely he’d used up the windows which would be less stupid than leaving the subs as late as he did given how obviously they were needed.

In the ludicrous era of five subs, at least one at half-time would make sense regularly regardless of how the game is going. Given we never seem to start the second half well it might be an idea to look at it given we haemorrhage territory and often goals from 45-60.

Their fans, pubs, police and stewards were exceptionally friendly at the away match before and after. More so than a good chunk of our support merited on the day. Don’t mind them. Far rather they do well than Birmingham.

City had Aguero and Balotelli up front whereas this lot absolutely sht themselves over who was meant to be marking Josh Windass seven yards from the goal.

Not justifying it at all but I guess it’s in the slot it is due to the police rather than Sky. No reason whatsoever one of the various Sky channels couldn’t be used for this with proper commentators in the ground, analysis and all that. It’ll probably be some nonsense that they’ve contractually agreed not to show a men’s game alongside certain WSL slots.

Intrigued to see what he does now for three very different challenges in Coventry, Charlton and Blackburn.

This Edwards thing is very odd. Assumed at 1-1 he’d come on for Cook. Presumably he comes in and Dunne moves over and he’s learned from the Ipswich game that chucking in a kid at full-back against a good side isn’t a brilliant idea.

We were talking about that too. Water barely seemed to be draining. Surface looked ok from the lower loft but saw a pic from upstairs and it was crap.

Just the one cross smashed out of play under minimal pressure this time so at least we won’t see one of those from him for a whole four weeks.

Calmed down now. Would love to know what was done/said after the game. Bet it was disappointingly quiet more than anything.

Can’t really blame them trying to score. Killing 10 seconds holding it in the corner with that long to go would’ve been silly and we nearly scored and ended it there.

The lack of organisation especially with those players on the pitch once the red had been awarded was dismal. Still think a team with competent fitness at worst avoids defeat.

My guess would be we play reasonably well for 45 minutes but don’t score, come out for the second half sluggishly and concede within the first ten minutes then after a very brief response the team is too knackered to do anything but cling on because we’re the most unfit team in the league.

2nd Wrexham goal
at 20:01 24 Jan 2026

Ref was a bizarre tombola all day but the goalkeeper catches that, falls to the ground and whacks it down the pitch. Feel for Walsh as he was having a good game and hasn’t done a lot wrong in the three games but he was appalling for both the second and third goals. How does he not parry that out nowhere near the middle of the goal from 30 yards? Was Begovicesque and can only imagine he was still beating himself up about the equaliser.

Ref was going to let him off the first and rightly so then he talked himself into a card and had to be pushed away.

Oh what a lark Mbengue he’s in your head shanking another cross over the bar. What a lark he’s thrown a glove at someone and tried to decapitate someone else then missed the ball with an overhead kick in his own area. He’s in your head though. The most moronic thing we’ve seen despite infinite contenders since Diakite. He’s in your head. He just can’t pass five yards or not try and kill someone 45 yards from the goal in the 89th minute for absolutely no reason. Absolute clown. Hope someone in that dressing room is giving him a slap but almost certainly not.

I guess something had to change and glad it has but it seems very unbalanced in midfield and how Dembele/Kone haven’t been benched is beyond me even with the injuries. Midfield might be able to pass the ball a bit at least but it feels very lightweight.

The kids insist Dembele in the ‘10’ is a different player so hopefully we’ll find out.

Google maps says 27 minutes but always an overestimate for me but appreciate that’ll not be the case with a kid. Whenever I’ve had to drive that way during the week it’s been a pain so think we’ll risk the trains over rush hour traffic.
