If that’s Ichiba the ramen in there is amazing and very good value, they always have decent offers on. It’s part-funded by the Japanese govt I believe as a cultural centre |

Different era to a lot of you fellas but I was lucky to live in Leeds in the early 90s and saw some brilliant bands in the Duchess of York pub. Oasis, Pulp, Longpigs, Mansun, Kenickie, most of the subsequent Britpop royalty passed through there. £5 to get in and £1.50 a pint of Tetleys Long gone now of course |

Noticed on the ITV highlights this weekend there a lot of pitches getting muddy and cut up now, it’s not just ours I don’t see why football has to played on perfect pitches anyway, it was always part of the game. Means you have to adapt your style |

Today’s results are making me feel weirdly optimistic Nobody is making a run for it at all, and we now know how to keep clean sheets and unless we’re being fed lies have a host of good attackers due to come back (Chair, Poku, Burrell) plus the new kid A decent set of results now and no reason at all we can’t get top 6 |

I always got the feeling our one was revenge for the fact we were fairly obviously guilty of the Faurlin stuff too, but the EFL had backed themselves into such a ridiculous corner by literally leaving it until the last game of the season that they didn’t have the balls to go through with it at that point |

Field will always be a QPR favourite and alongside Chair probably kept us up from relegation for two seasons in a row between them - the right sort and ever present But I’m weirdly ok with this. He’s now fourth choice midfielder behind Madsen, Varane, Hayden. Morgan also waiting in the wings. Ronnie Edwards can step in in an emergency. I think Hayden is a better player at exactly what Sam Field does and it seems pointless having both in the squad And a lot of our recent better games have involved players receiving the ball and passing it forwards. For whatever reason Field has never managed to add this to his game. We’ve all moaned about how stodgy our midfield is for years and while Field is an excellent defender he’s not an excellent attacker He’s a top pro and needs to play and this feels like the right time to clap him off with nothing but our very best wishes [Post edited 2 Feb 22:12]

It’s true, I’m in Kensal Green now with school age kids and there’s a whole new cohort of broccoli-haired local teenage lads that have suddenly got into QPR as they can get tickets, it’s easy to get to, and it’s good fun. I had a few parents texting me on Boxing Day moaning that their sons were driving to Portsmouth instead of staying in and eating cheese I’m doing my bit by bringing down my son’s young mates but unfortunately we keep fkin it up by losing which is making it difficult to burst through their FIFA-inspired love of Arsenal etc. |

I do seem to recall those excellent French football guys at the start of the season saying Stephan has a habit of flogging the players to death and they tend to tail off. We’re definitely seeing that now. |

Great report - I have stayed off here since Saturday as was genuinely gob-smacked by that game and didn’t want to knee-jerk it or read any moaning. My 9 year old was inconsolable afterwards for ages! Felt guilty for putting him through it In the cold light of Monday night we played really well for long periods, Madsen was excellent, Vale at 10 was too (in the first half), and it was shaping up for an enjoyable game and result and 5 point haul over three games. Football can be a right fker sometimes. Losing it to Wrexham with all that entails made it worse - their fans were sound, but I can’t help but think if they get anywhere this season we’re going to be watching those last few minutes over and over and over again. Haven’t watched back the replays but that last shot looked like it went right through Walsh, I don’t reckon Nardi would have let that in. |

I disagree there’s been no progress, I get that this new shithouse 0-0 setup that can’t pass to each other is dire to watch and seems undercooked but: - We’ve basically missed Chair for most of the season. In any of the last 3/4 seasons if he’d been out for this long, I reckon we’d have been relegated. Instead we’re comfortably just outside the playoffs - Our strength in depth when fully fit is great now, not everywhere (LB, ST) but streets ahead of some of the benches and elevens we’ve been putting out over the years - We’ve got 2/3 forwards who can actually finish in the squad, which hasn’t happened for decades - The side seems together and has some bottle and fight about it and are finally starting to hassle refs and intimidate opposition players and not wilt when times aren’t great, like facing 45 degree rain in a gail It’s not ideal, when is it ever, but that for me is progress |
