As with Madsen the transformation from last season is quite remarkable. Brilliant play today to win the ball back for our second.
As terryb mentions the downside, as with Burrell, will be the International call up's. The risk of injury and exhaustion. Wonderful for the players of course to play international football. |

Probably too early to be thinking like that.
Julien impresses me more and more as time moves on. I loved the recent interview with Clive and Conor and I was thinking that Marty would not have given such detailed, interesting replies.
Julien gives the impression that he is a deep thinking football man. He stays humble, grounded and would no doubt chuckle to some of the responses on here to victories and defeats. As OakR says Julien sets standards, high standards, which can only be a positive thing for the club especially as the players seem to be buying in to it.
He is not perfect of course. I think he has finally realised that Smyth is better than Saito and the Boy Kemper substitution will never be forgotten, lol.
I have high hopes for what Julien can achieve at our club. But as my friend Colin recently said, Julien might get frustrated, fed up with player availability and move on. [Post edited 24 Oct 22:03]

You could say that the good news is Burrell won't be going away on International duty.
WLS says Kone is fit and available for Saturday. Seriously? The same Kone that hasn't looked fit all season. I wouldn't play him.
Any doubt over Jimmy I wouldn't play him either. Kemper or Cirkin can play in the centre and surely it's about time we blew the dust off Morrison, applied the WD40 and give him some minutes. [Post edited 20 Oct 21:41]

I am more of the mindset that we lost today rather than Birmingham won.
Millers goals were two excellent strikes but he is on loan from Hull.
I think you could argue that Birmingham's spending has given them a better squad depth than ours but even then if both squads remained injury free throughout the season, come May, I don't think there would be many points between the two teams. We have recruited well. |

Fine margins as always Paddy.
Leave a player in the centre circle when we are taking a corner, I thought we did, and the first goal is unlikely to happen.
Still half asleep four minutes in to the second half, allow Roberts to run from the centre circle to our penalty area unchallenged. Two passes across our penalty area, Adamson has drifted inside leaving Miller unmarked.
We looked physically and mentally tired, highly likely some of our players were not 100% fit. Birmingham looked a very good side but they still needed mistakes from us to win the game.
Goodness knows why Kone was brought on given his fitness levels.
Not sure what Vale's role was today, what was expected of him, but he was below par. As Numpty says many were below par today and avoidable mistakes cost us.
I am also confident normal service will resume next Saturday. |

Yes, no real reaction to going two down, almost as if we have given up on this one unless Madsen has a knock.
Vale is in bad form and shouldn't be on the pitch but there is no point scapegoating him for the poor team performance today, it has been a team effort. |

West Ham was a tough game and in his post match interview Julien was already talking about Birmingham having an extra day off!
No excuse though, we have conceded two poor goals.
Would agree that Birmingham are the best side we have faced this season but we are still gifting them the points. |

It was.
Their number 16 ran from the half line to our penalty area unchallenged. Two passes across our penalty area, Adamson has drifted over to the middle leaving Miller to choose his spot.
Unfortunately we were still in the dressing room. |
