I gave Vestergaard 10/10. How anyone could give him less than 9 for a Man of the Match performance like that, I do not know. It was like watching a bigger version of Beckenbauer.

Good performance from Saints. The key difference was that Redmond fluffed a chance for us that Sterling would have scored from.

Considering the difference in transfer funds I thought we played really well, just lacked a cutting edge up front but that’s the gap between the haves and the have nots. Proud of the them today though 😇

KWP, TW and JV played absolute Blinders today. Those cross field passes that JV was hitting through for KWP were amazing.

Enjoyed this game more than the Arsenal game. I thought we matched them just couldn't quite put it together in that final third.

Tella looked good when he came on. Just needs more game time.

A few players looked tired. I think Bertrand might need a rest soon.

Overall the team played well and on another day would have got something out of this game. Roll on the next few games if we can keep playing at this standard.

COYR!

I don't think I've ever rated a Saints team higher. So proud of them against a top( reportedly £1billion) rated squad. Guardiola's comments were very sportsmanlike and he was accurate with his praise. Wish I could be in SMS to cheer them on.

Apart for 10 minute period in which they scored Saints dominated the match (and I was surprised to see a 48-52% possession stat on the BBC - never trust the BBC) and Saints deserved to get at least a point. First time I've seen Saints match and better the megastars of Manchester since billions have been ploughed into the club. The ball just didn't seem to fall for our strikers and Ingsy was off-form before he had to go off. Both our centre-backs were terrific and Vestergaard was my MOTM again - 3 matches running. Good performances from JWP, Romeu, KWP and McCarthy ( although it was predictable - as I did - that MC and Sterling would exploit our right-hand side. I was surprised that Ralph didn't do more to buttress this side especially straight-off from kick-off. I was disappointed that Saints let them waltz through and score so easily without Sterling being marked ten yards from the far post). Didn't think Moussa deserved to get taken off he was far more effective than the confidentless and lacklustre Redmond who's struggling for form at the moment. Hope they bring back Obafemi to partner Adams for the next match and I'm looking forward to watching Diallo play 90 minutes after Romeu's 5th booking and suspension leaves him out of the match. Just hope we don't underestimate Fulham who are playing well at the moment.

What a great game we played yesterday. Very unlucky, but I don't feel disheartened like I did after the Arsenal game. I can't imagine Pep's had to face a team like this outside the big 6. Our press was immense and we did not give up, we were pressing City until the 90th minute. Stand out performances from our whole team again. Vestergaard's range of passing is so good. Theo is relishing his no 10 role on the right, it allows him to get forward and take up a central position.

City having that world class quality just nicked the game, no team plays better then them against the press, their players have the ability to play a low, hard 30 yard pass when under pressure. If we play anywhere near this good against other teams this season we'll have no problem picking up results.

1) excellent performance against a billion-rated City side, who struggled under pressure from us at times.
top rated showings from Vestergaard and Walcott , but Ings certainly not fully fit ,and Redmond a long way off his best.
2) Referee Dean has never given us the time of day. His repeated ignorance of fouls by English internationals is renowned, and another ref. might easily has given 1 or even 2 penalties on the day. We had two bookings that were scarcely " dangerous" , and yet City might have had at least one red card ...
3) a defeat - YES - but very proud of the team performance. Tella and N'Lundulu will look better against some weaker teams in the league.
