Apparently A Club Record Today

How about a replay of all 6000 of them on the big screen before the Watford game?

Saints played very well. Stoke have only lost one of their last 6 games, and they've beaten some good teams, as you can see here:

The best ever start by any Saints manager?
at 14:26 31 Jan 2026

9 wins and 4 draws in his first 18 games.

I've checked the records. It's only the best start of the 14 managers over the last 16 years, since Adkins made an even better start in 2010.

Sports Republic French club in financial trouble

She's made a quarter of a billion out of the club so far. But it's worth it: she's great at finding new owners.

It's reminiscent of what happened at the last multi-club group where Spors was sporting director: 777 Partners.

The one bright spot is Scienza, who appears to be happy here and playing the best football of his life.

Another assist too.

"Striker Ben Brereton Diaz says he has rediscovered his joy for football during his loan spell at Derby County."

He never looked happy here and towards the end, you could see he just wanted to get away.
He looks like a different player at Derby, fitter, more motivated and, of course making and scoring more goals. He's only 26, reaching the peak of his career. We should get a good transfer fee for him, which is the main priority of the club, after all.

You sense the same will happen with Harwood-Bellis when he manages to escape to another club. He's going to enjoy his football more and get back into the England team.

New striker incoming???
at 13:15 30 Jan 2026

A lot of these loan deals are done by people who've got to know each other through years of networking or by people who played or worked together in the past. We don't have the contacts with Leeds or other top clubs that would take us to the top of the queue for their loanees.

Even Ankersen's time at Brentford doesn't seem to have got us any loanees from them.

It sounds like both Middlesbrough and Wrexham are willing to pay £8 mill for Armstrong. With time running out, one of them may go as high as £10 mill.

I don't suppose we could get Dael Fry in part exchange?

If Carlos Kaiser had ever wanted to come to England, we'd have been the club to sign him: a highly lucrative career as a professional 'footballer', spanning more than a decade, without ever playing a game.

Then there's the case of George Long. Has anyone ever seen him? OK, he's not being paid anywhere near as much as Aribo and McCarthy - not many footballers are - but, he's earning more than most people do in their lives.

For many on here, surely this is living the dream, as they said last season all they wanted was to watch Championship football and never get promoted to the Premier League again. Sport Republic have obviously taken note.

To be honest, whatever happens, people will moan. Some of the angriest and most bitter posts on here came when we won a few games.

I guess we'd find out if we ever read his autobiography or if Nick asked him. Ironically he played in a Stoke team alongside Adrian Heath.

As a Scouser, Paul Randall will probably remember his last minute equaliser v Liverpool and his goal at Old Trafford in the 1980-81 season more. Scoring 2 goals against another Second Division team wouldn't have been such a big deal for him. He was scoring goals for fun every week in the late 70s.

A bunch of kids from our end - the oldest was about 15 - ran on the pitch and got chased off it. It was embarrassing.

Southampton at Nottingham Forest the year before was much better.

We always had a massive away following at FA Cup games in those days.

Far too soon to pass judgement. He's 19. A few sub appearances are what you'd expect in the Premier League, at his age. Who knows what he'll be worth in the future?

Shocking
at 10:26 26 Jan 2026

You should have gone to football in the 70s. You'd have heard far worse. In fact, the Dell was one of the worst places for it. The abuse the Pompey players and fans got in the last derby game at the Dell, in 1996, was just as bad. Modern stadiums keep the crowds well away from the players but in old grounds, they can get close to them.

Yes, we extend our unbeaten run to 5 matches and 16 years. Pompey fans were really expecting a win today.

Could you see Adams pushed the ball into the net with the crook of his arm from where you were? VAR would have ruled it out.
