that early 2000s period was a terrible time for music. I don't really know who started that movement The Strokes or The Libertines, but the amount of bands that just sprung forth like a festering plague, were tremendous at that time. I tried to ignore all current music at that time, focusing on on only listening to music from the past. A band at that time, people seem to rate, but I never got at all were Bloc Party. |

Regarding REM, I actually really like their early stuff.... Murmur is a brilliant debut LP. but the peak of their career til the end, they were probably one of the most boring bands ever.... I do like the stuff before they were big though. |

wishbone ash. Always saw the albums and they look interesting As someone more into 60s stuff than 70s, I am always a bit afraid to dip into 70s prog or hard rock. I would say I have the same feeling with UFO too. I just don't know where to start with these types of groups from 71-75, that I kind of just ignore them. I am not really a fan of out right prog for the sakes of prog groups like Yes, so don't really know where to begin. |

I think here's mine in no-particular order. 1. Pink Floyd - I am more a fan of their 67-73 period. But would say I like all eras of Floyd and it's effected me throughout my life. 2. Spacemen 3 (inc. Spiritualized/Spectrum) 3. Jesus and Mary Chain 4. Television Personalities 5. Felt 6. Stereolab 7. John Coltrane 8. Gorky's Zygotic Mynci 9. The Seeds 10. The Byrds Honorable mentions to The Beatles and Stones obviously, but they're almost too big to be added to the list. This top 10, also changes all the time, this is just how I see things at the moment and bands that have had the most impact on me since teen hood. I would also add an 11th - for 60s garage band compilations in general, as these type of groups I am a big collector of, but many of them were one single bands, but it's my favourite genre. Genre top 5's 1. 60s garage punk/ folk-rock/ beat (USA groups mostly 65-67 some UK 63-68) 2. Psychedelia/early prog/ proto glam/ heavy rock (67 - 69 UK and US) 3. Krautrock (german 71-78) 4. Indie and post punk ( UK and US 79-92) 5. Jazz (most of the Impulse stuff 57- 67) Lately I have been nostalgic for Brit-Pop era bands, never was into it during my teens as I liked more 80s and 60s stuff but revisiting Britpop groups like Suede and Mansun have really been a head swinger for me. I had originally dismissed these bands as too camp, but they're actually really good. Blur too, at the time, never thought much of them, but they were far more unique and intriguing than Oasis. Never really liked the Verve, despite having their LPs, and I never really got what the fuss was about with Oasis although do rate Noel as a good song-writer. The 90s had some real gems, both in popular and underground music both in UK and USA. |

Wouldn't say I am AUTISTIC so to speak, although been reading up on it the last few weeks and think I am a little on the spectrum with stuff. Relationships are hard for me - I am married, but all my relationships go a bit wonky for reasons I absolutely have no idea about. Safe to say, this current relationship has gone strong, we're married after all, but there are things I would say I have no idea why my partner is upset about. I also realised I like very specific things and am obsessed by things. Never been diagnosed, but what I said about realising I was autistic was that everything you guys have posted seems to resonate with me. I for one, cannot handle changes, especially last minute changes. |

Agree, think bands make the most of their money on merchandise. I once got a cheque from Spotify for my music a grand total of £2.56 in 5 years. |
