Hull was a great day out and I can only compliment the Hull fans for their friendliness before and after the game. As for the game itself, I’ve never seen a game where our keeper had so little to do!
I thought Hull were a good side and despite the above remarks about not testing our keeper, they did look in the first half of being capable of getting back into the game but just lacked the final through ball. Second half however was a defensive master class from Saints in defending from the front, as Hull were closed down completely as an attacking threat.
Steven Davis seems to have upped his game from being a 7/8 every week to being an even more consistent 8/9 in recent matches, but everybody else also worked hard with Shane Long being unlucky not to get on the score sheet from 2 good chances. Toby Alderweireld had a great game at the back and just made it look so easy. The Saints fans were also in good voice for most of the match, after Victor had silenced the locals in the 3rd minute.

Well we cruised into a 3 goal lead in the first half, without playing well at all and Sunderland did not look that bad.. I thought we played well in the second half but difficult to say how much of that was down to Sunderland giving up. A mention for Shane Long today as he seemed to win everything in the air today - what a leap he has! Even without scoring he was a constant nuisance to Sunderland. At the end of the game we had 3 Africans on the pitch - probably a first for Saints?

I thought too that the Ref ruined the game. I'm not sure why Yoshida was replaced at half time (injured possibly) but it would have been the right decision anyway from Koeman, as Yoshi had been booked in the first half and I reckon the Ref might have tried to even up the red cards. I think we missed Steven Davis in the first half, as our ball retention was really poor.

Agree with Winchesterbob. Guly and Fox were poor today and Richardson was anonymous. Saints controlled the game but there was no penetration and we did not look like scoring. Schneiderlin seemed to be playing further forward than usual , and I just coulden't understand why, when we had Barnard on the bench. De Ridder seems to be gaining in fitness but we weren't playing to his strengths either. This game reminded me of Walsall away last year, when the opposition again had only 1 decent chance and scored from it. We definately need a plan B for when Rickie Lambert is not available.
