He he. Not quite that old 49th. But I definitely saw 2 or 3 G&S productions at the Hippodrome. The Mikado for sure. I'm thinking 1965 -ish. My mother worked with someone at Rochdale Baths from whom she used to get the tickets. Wonder who the outfit were then .... [Post edited 5 Jun 16:37]

Noticed Paddy Madden released by Stockport. Could he still do a job at our level? |

Yes, Judd. In fact were you to substitute Rochdale in place of Scunthorpe it more or less, mirrors our situation. |

Not sure if these have been mentioned but here goes: Watching Rochdale Amateur Operatic Society perform Gibert &Sullivan at the Hippodrome. Then having a Chinese at The Bluebird (?) The first foreign restaurant in town (I think)- near the Salvation Army hall. The slate piss stones at the bottom of Molesworth Street - they drained directly into the river. There was a Methodist (?) Chapel that got demolished opposite those stones on Molesworth Street. Went in just before it got wrecked and it looked a beautiful place. Vavasour Street: Had Newbold Infant school and a whole street of shops culminating at the Vavasour Hotel where, as little 'uns we used to gather to watch the fights. |

Yes. I haven't dared to believe until now - dreading what due diligence might have turned up. So yes, exhale ....... Celebrate. As much as I like the "return to the EFL in 3 years comment", I hope we don't panic and start chucking loads of money at it. This can be achieved in a carefully managed and sensible manner. I know I am being hyper-sensitive. These guys seem to have their heads screwed on. |

Hardly made any difference though as the Wythenshawe keeper didnt have save to make from what I saw. bury blazed all their pens high and wide |

Looking at their final table The two Wythenshawe teams finished on 95 points each. Which was remarkable in itself. So both Wythenshawe teams got promoted. I think bury would have also reached 95 points had they not had the deduction but they would only have finished second on goal difference. So same outcome either way. (Although, presumably, they would have been at home having finished second). Still put a smile on my face has that result though. But just shows how difficult it is to extract oneself from the mire in these divisions. [Post edited 5 May 9:02]

Yep I noticed that. I have never felt so gutted for another team. Hard luck Coventry. |
| Forum Reply | Fa Cup replays at 19:51 18 Apr 2024
That would be good if all the EFL teams did that but the easiest way to have sorted this would be to ask the clubs playing each other whether they want a replay. If one team says no then so be it. That could lead second replays and the like. It would generate the teams who need it a few bob extra and keep the sports channels happy too. |

Thanks a lot George. You are emerging as one of our unsung heroes. On behalf of everyone (I'm sure I'm not being presumptuous here) thanks for your efforts and clarity in these matters. Quietly hopeful that we will have a team to support next season. |

3 o'clock couldn't have been worse to inspect the pitch. A freezing cold wind wbipped up, with lashing rain. I knew then the match would be off. And look at it now. Brightened up and the wind doing a good drying job. Hey ho! |

Well, if you like watching your team pass the ball sideways then back to your keeper and then give the ball away when you cross the halfway line, well that was the match for you. |

This guy also stopped us going 2-1 down in the second half. He could go either way. Lets hope this helps him kick on. |

Mrs Meek classics teacher. And a young maths teacher who ended up marrying one of his pupils. How times have changed. |

Sassi actually made some match saving last ditch tackles in the second half, which kind of compensated for his rubbish first half. His stopping, putting his foot on the ball, waiting an age, then passing backwards was particularly frustrating. Hard fought win was that. Let's hope it is the start of a new habit forming. |
