LABOUR' S FAULT on 14:05 - Oct 10 with 2003 viewssuttonsaint

I 'm no card carrying Tory by any standard but we were in deep shite up to our necks long before Cameron got his hands on the purse strings.

I heard a voice in the noise pollution!

Are you sure that's what they said? Because what I heard was that Labour's failure to govern their own agencies such as the FSA since the days of Blair led to the uncapped excesses of the banks, so yes it was the banks, but Labour's management of the economy under Gordon Brown was incompetent and public spending was extravagant. Why polarise the issue just so you can attack it from an extreme position? It's such an obvious tactic. The hard work is basing an argument round policy.

I know we were but it was more down to the Bankers than any government and was worldwide problem not just in this country

The mistake the Tories made was to heap all the blame on Labour. Sure labour left the economy deep in shit as they ain't very good at running it, but the global crisis wasn't their fault and it was silly not to acknowledge that.

Cameronwill always pass the buck, no matter what the issue. It's what posh Eton educated tools do, blame the servants, never their fault

Tory or Deputy chairman on BBC breakfast was trying to get out of mess of Clacton Bi Election and tried to scaremonger voters by saying you get a Labour government if you vote UKIP and that will lead to Financial problems, which to me suggested he was saying the Financial meltdown was all down to Labour

You won't get anywhere on here with the Daily Mails editorial writer, it's like Goebbels said if you repeat a lie enough times, they will believe it. I remember after the election every Tory or LibDem that came on the tv or radio always said, we're clearing up Labour's mess,

LABOUR' S FAULT on 15:50 - Oct 10 with 1909 viewshuelinsaint

They know it wasn't really Labour's fault, it was the fault of bank deregulation [ of which the right shouted for more of] and the ponzi scheme that is fiat money.

Every time the economy falls flat - and the working man (OR woman) loses out first - it is because of dirigist, "progressive", high tax, obligation-free welfare, supply side policies given an electoral mandate.

The Labour party is poison for our economic life, and always will be, because it lacks pragmatism. It is driven by the idea that you can implement "what would be best" by legislating for it. It ALWAYS ignores basic human psychology, which evolved in groups no more than 200-strong (about the number in anyone's meaningful social circle, and incidentally about the average number of "friends" people have on facebook), – people will be philanthropic to a certain extent but no further. Ironically this includes the hard-core leveller-style socialist who is never really working for the 'greater good', but for the good of what he perceives to be his in-group. Academic socialists are always utterly dumbfounded that the working class they patronise actually has far more conservative views than they "should".

The economic crisis was global, but "saving the world... erm, I mean banks" was the Labour party's response. Massive overspending, believing they had "solved boom and bust" was hubris of the highest degree, and as ever with Labour, absolutely devoid of any pragmatism.

The long term human project will succeed on Invention-Production-Trade.

In the shorter term we need national sovereignty, low taxes and small government.

Vote UKIP!

Cameron is a soundbite, devoid of any orignal thought. He was designed on Blair to be the darling of television.
And the Tories will try to get the election fought on his media appeal. You have seen it start already
QUOTE
"a vote for UKIP will only get you Milliband as the next PM" How many times have you heard this from Tory spokesperson on TV this week.
They are trying to drum home this, and have instructions to make that quote as often as possible.
The Tories know if they were to judged on their performance as a goverment, they will lose.
So they are rounding on the hapless Milliband to divert the issues, they will try to run a 'presedential campaign'..Cameron vs Milliband.
The Labour party should not have elected such a wet lettuce in the first place.
But even so the Tories will be very lucky to hold on to the floating voters this time round.
As one of thier lapdog Liberal leaders said yesterday "The Tories are the nasty party again"
Ukip will split the righties vote, their lapdog allies, under Clegg, are rushing to vote Labour.

Except for two things Pat:

1. I was asking if someone really believed that 'Etonian toffs' actually blame their 'servants' in 2014 (Downton Abbey notwithstanding) when anything goes wrong, and;

2. The economy is recovering like it or not - although it might be an inconvenient truth for you.

So how does it feel to be continually outwitted outthought and outmanouvred by a "Daily Mail writer?" The truth is you get reduced to smears and name calling because you can't think quickly enough on your feet and you don't have the knowledge, the learning the wit or the experience. You can take me on if you want but the more you do the more fooolish you will look. You are already starting to look like some hate ridden loser with references to Goebbels. How long before you are reduced to calling me a "coont" again? Better to be a "coont" than a grade A uanquere any day.

Labour like the Tory governments before them borrowed. Nothing wrong with that and no different to an individual taking out a big mortgage. As long as you can manage the repayment everything is fine.

The loans which are still outstanding since the Napoleonic Wars can hardly be blamed on Labour. Over the years it has been cheaper to pay the interest rather than the debt.

Currently in spite of all the cut backs this government is borrowing more than Labour ever did.

However to blame Labour for the financial crisis one has to believe that the Labour government also ran Greece, Italy, Spain and every other country in Europe because they all ended up in deep crap.

It was not the borrowing that was the fault it was the cutting off of the means of servicing it that was to blame.

I can think of nothing worse than that geek Milliband as PM. Every time I hear his whiney voice it makes me cringe. He's just a middle class politics student that's never done a days work in his life. It's no surprise that he's hated by traditional Labour voters.
