At least we might have a team with some energy in it at last. Energy we've not had since Mackie left

Seems like I am the only one underwhelmed by this news . cant fault his effort but he has gone backwards since leaving here .

Ekotto kept him in his pocket even when he was not giving a sh*t.

Its a no from me

hope Phillips stays and Mackie is used either on left or up front, think Phillips is a far better player

I'm definitely with you on this Essex . Massive step backwards or sideways at best.
Big no thank you Jamie from me.

LOL you guys.

Look he's not being signed as our replacement for Charlie or something. He adds a bit of commitment, pace and some half-decent finishing to a squad with a bunch of piss in attack.

He won't be expensive and he won't be expected to score 20 goals a season but he's the right type of player and, guess what, we're in the Championship now.

It's a low risk signing.

I think Heider is available.

It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Phillips is better, but I'd rather have Mackie in my squad than not. A match winner, a tremendous attitude, a bit of pace. Technically great? No - but you need other parts to make a squad work. It was a fvcking disgrace when he was sold and I'd love him back - won't cost much either.
For those saying he's gone backwards, he had a very decent run with Reading at the end of the season. They didn't score many goals, but he got 5 of their last 13 from the end of Feb.
There's always room for a Mackie in the squad.

Bare bones.

Can't understand why anyone wouldn't want him if he's cheap/free and on reasonable wages.

Great guy, hardworker, very effective player too. Made plenty of appearances for Forest (45) and Reading (32) too, so i don't get the 'lost his way' comments.

Can play on the wing, wide forward or upfront - essential in the long grind of a Championship season.

Assuming Austin goes out strike force currently consists of...

Good squad player is Mackie at least.

Mackie medical QPR on 15:44 - Jun 15 with 10285 viewsSpiritofGregory

Surely Mackie wouldn't be a replacement for Phillips. We should keep Phillips.

Mackie medical QPR on 15:48 - Jun 15 with 10276 viewsaston_hoop

Good hardworking player who loves the club, exactly the kind of player we need in the squad. Whether its a hardworking performance on the wing or through the middle, or as an impact sub when heads have dropped. Shortlisted for player of the year at Reading last season too so not sure his standards have dropped massively!

agree with this....He is going to set the league on fire but to say we are a little short up front at the moment is a massive understatement.
