Dead Kennedys & Suicidal Tendencies 18:30 - Sep 28 with 3953 viewsNeath_Jack

Came across both these bands for the first time today.

The chap who played them, reckons they are more thrash/metal than punk.

I know we have a couple of punk aficionados on here, so what are they?

(This is a BLM free zone, thank you).

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Are you thinking of The Clarence?

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Fantastic band, one of my favourites.

They were originally punk/hard core and then became one the bands known as crossover bands, who mixed hard core with thrash metal. Other bands of the genre were DRI (also brilliant) and Corrosion of Conformity amongst others.

Pub of the Rhondda Jacks was the Clarence. That was a rat hole too!

I went to see them a few years back in Camden.

I learned that doddery old blokes in their forties should leave the mosh pit to the kids.

Was there too. Loved the Stray Cats...slightly plastic...but the music was good at the time.

You’re full of surprises Humpt. I heard some CoC and they were pretty good. Did you listen to Infectious Grooves?

Dunno about surprises. I have mentioned my musical tastes a couple of times.

I haven't heard much Infectious Grooves, I know their Mike Muir's sidegroup, more funk based than Suicidal.

If you want to listen to some old US hardcore/punk I recommend Minor Threat. They were short lived but very influential. Not that I endorse all of their views/lyrics. Their complete discography would do. Some bloody good stuff if you like that sort of thing.

I’ll listen to anything. I’ve heard of minor threat but not listened to them, I’ll give it a whirl.

* just realised I’m aware of them because of the Fugazi connection.👍

There's a message in there, I only got it 9 years ago.

OK I've changed it.
