So with Chair so nearly scoring an iconic Rs goal at the weekend, it feels like a good time to feast on superlative Rangers goals of days gone by.
Random rules I'm making up for the hell of it:
- Please don't post Trevor's bicycle kick, Wegerle at Leeds, Gerry's season opener v Liverpool, or Gaz at Rushden - let's dig deeper. - Can we focus on supreme technique or great team moves rather than goals that set pulses racing for their importance (eg Furlong & Zamora play off goals, Robbo from the half way line).
Wilkins was the best player I ever saw in a Rangers shirt, an absolute master. Had the knack to find something that can never be coached; time. Today he would be in Man City, 10 years ago Barcelona, 20 Man Utd. 30 years ago he was a Ranger. And a thoroughly nice bloke to go with it.

Turnip Taylor really should’ve recalled him to the England squad when he was head n shoulders the best central midfielder in the top flight during his Ray Naysonce Instead he picked Gordon Cowans FFS
This one for England before his time with us but I absolutely love it. Told him so and he just grinned at me and said “it weren’t bad was it?” See how he actually passes it to himself and finishes so calmly. What a man
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

One of the best goals I remember seeing from the Loft was from Stan alone with the ball on the right side of the penalty area faced by 2 defenders and I think Peter Shilton in goal - looked very difficult to score. But...Stan shimmied towards the bi-line and 1 defender went that way and fell in that direction, Stan then shimmied inside and the other defender fell that way. Stan cut back real quick, jumped between and over the outstretched legs with the ball which he then put in the far corner of the goal sending Shilton the wrong way too. It was amazing and comical all at once. I think it was in our 2-0 win against Stoke 25 September 1976, but I'm not sure and have never found a video of it or remember seeing it on TV. Anyone?

This one. I am amazed this doesn’t get talked about more. The skill and finish by Routledge was incredible. But that assist is the greatest assist I have ever seen.

This is mine, even though I've tried to memory hole it due to what happened after, but from the pass he bombs forward and doesn't even break his stride to hit it flush. It's so devastating it counted for nothing
