Im starting to get edgy.

F*** knows why, we must be able to beat them. It really is a massive game!

Just hope Dozzell not going to prove something.

Hopefully he will prove that he is a waste of space.

This is turning into this season's "can Remy play in the play-offs".

I have to be honest it was nice to have a weekend with no Rangers stress. Starting to get to me this season now. Dreaming about conceding at Hull last night 🤣🤣.

Was boring thought wasn’t it .
But yes starting to feel the nerves for Friday.
Would love to beat that lot and put them further in trouble

Mentioned on other thread I think the gap between games has increased the build up. He needs to start with same team as WBA game

Can’t the club give him a special dispensation to play in this game?

Marti needs to start with the team he thinks is best for this game!

Would have preferred if Dozy could have played myself

And Laird , Sanderson and Roberts as all extinguished themselves with ourselves.

I can not see Rowett being the right type of manager to get something out of these players as they all prefer a slightly less confrontational, up and at em manager, although to be fair if any manager gets a regular shift out of any of these three, they deserve to be at a club that is far advanced of Brum.

I think we will win comfortably 2 nil or 3 nil

Be a nice comforting display and ease the nerves but an early goal - first ten minutes - would be extremely welcome and if we can be 2 nil up at half time then the fans can relax a little - lets hope so !!!

Not so much “play”, more just wandering around aimlessly contributing zip. A bit like Dykes.

Problem is we struggle to score two goals.

I can see this being nervy, tetchy and tense - another 0-0 wouldn't surprise me, with the pack continuing to jostle us into minor heart attacks.

Especially against sides that sit back, which is exactly what Rowett is known for: playing compact and defensively well-drilled football which makes it hard to break through the lines but with fast counter attacks.

It sounds like our kryptonite. Doubled down by the fact that he's just had the international break to work on these strategies. As per the above article he sets out a simple plan which is easy to implement. He also likes to wind up the opposition, so I'm guessing his Birmingham team will also adopt this approach and generally we come off worst with these situations, being more obvious with our shirt pulls and professional fouls and not being so effective at getting in the ref's ear.

Well before the last 2 disappointments we'd scored 2 in 6 of the previous 9, in which we only failed to score once. So it was improving. We badly need someone to find their shooting boots though. Brum are going to be buoyed by Rowett and his suffocating style. It feels very much like when WBA came last season, bottom of the league under the hapless Bruce, and Corberan just set them up solidly and they won 1-0.
Form now goes out the window with a new boss, so we need to be on it like v WBA and really pile into them and try to get that first goal.
Frey will start and he needs to get a goal pronto. Only major decision for me is which 2 of 3 starts in midfield.

Bare bones.

I hope it's not Colback. I think he passes it back and sideways too much, which can be a problem against a high press team. Plus he's not great at defending set pieces in our box compared to the other two, which might be significant in this match.

The usually story of us needing to score first (and ideally early).

You hope will be down the drain....Colback is one of the first on the team sheet and rightly so.

& add the two observations - he passes more positively 99% of the time more than Field!!!

Seems to be good at game management but proven to be a weak link defending set pieces and has cost us points on this,

In fairness Sam Field's forward passing has increased markedly in quantity & quality in recent games,

Hadyn and Colback are quite similar players for me and I'd go with Hadyn's athleticism over Colback's game management and pair Hadyn with Field.

Can see the argument for Colback but Hadyn offers more for me, could be wrong.

Colback & Hayden play different roles in the team.....not a good comparison.

Colback is a very good signing for us and so was Cook and Hayden on loan.....the manager is very pleased with all 3 of them - doesnt necessary mean he will start them every match though.

Stats eh....we have only scored two goals in 5 of our last 10 matches!!!!

Friday is likely to be a physical and tetchy game, for that I would rather start with Field and Hayden.

We have the 2nd worst Home record in the division. But Brum have scored < 1 goal per game away.
Rowett may have had 12 days to drill them, but Marti's had the same. Let's pretend we're playing Arsenal U21s

Do they?

I thought they both played on the right side of the 2 CDM's with Field on the Left?

Colback should be a very good signing but has missed too many games to really make the difference I'd hoped he would.

Field the only scorer in the last three games so he should probably start.

I’d start all three of them to be honest , field can then play the way he did against West Brom and getting into the box more
