Interesting Debate On The Radio On Saturday 13:58 - Apr 8 with 526 viewsSaintNick

Driving home after the game on Saturday there was an interesting radio debate on possession football.

The gist of it was that most teams play it these days, but to play it well you have to play along the back and draw the opposition in and then counter attack.

So the argument was that you are applying a strategy in the riskiest area of the pitch and the key to this is the goalkeeper, they said that usually the keeper is the worst passer/kicker of the ball and he is being asked to be the key in the riskiest strategy.

This was nothing to do with Saints but about the Premier League and mainly the Burnley keeper who had handed Everton the only goal of the game

Man City's keeper would be our most creative player if he played in an outfield position for us.

He's incredibly skilful with the ball at his feet.

it is daft for other clubs to think they can replicate this.

Poll: Does anybody think Saints can get promoted this season?

Everyone else does, it is just to the level that they are prepared to keep passing it along the back before hoofing it
