Steven Gerrard - apologises? 21:12 - Mar 25 with 797 viewsOsbourne

Osbourne heard on Sunday afternoon that Gerrard was sent off about 40 seconds into the 2nd half v Manchester United.

Gerrard apparently came on as a 2nd half substitute! He therefore was only on the pitch for 40 seconds!

Gerrard has admitted the referee was correct to send him off and apologised.

Osbourne remembers the Roy Keane incident in a Manchester Derby, when Roy Keane broke one of the Manchester City's players legs with a horrendous, high, studs up challenge which Keane later admitted in a book, was deliberate.

Osbourne has now seen the Steven Gerrard incident. Well, a clear stamp it was on Herrera. Herrera was very lucky not to have his leg broken. Osbourne would suggest that Gerrard should not be apologising to Brendan Rodgers, the Liverpool players and fans, but to Herrera. For an incident like this a 3 match suspension is a very light tariff indeed.

The only defence to Gerrard is that there could of been history between himself and Herrera? There is talk of another clear stamp being missed by the referee on Sunday.

However, when professional football, induced by money, money and more money has come to this, then Osbourne for one, asks questions?

Any comments on AVFTT?
Harsh or fair Osbourne post?

Osbourne is prepared to move further into this story.

In Gerrards 38 seconds on the pitch he achieved the following :
1. Sprayed a trademark long pass out to the right wing.
2. Roused Anfield with a bone - shaker of a tackle on Mata.
3. Then the challenge with Herrera and the apparent Gerrard stamp.

Why did Gerrard do it?
1. It was Gerrards last Liverpool v United match?
2. Gerrard had been provoked by the United fans? Gerrard had been treated to a full song sheet as he warmed up. Gerrard had waved to the United fans.

Steven Gerrard has had 6 Premier League Reds. That is twice as many as any other Liverpool player.

Herrera's challenge on Gerrard which led to the reprisal by Gerrard was not even a bad challenge in any way?

Osbourne would definitely be interested to hear how others on AVFTT saw this incident.

PNENIL has always been an admirer of SG but feels that after the slip against Chelsea last season, the assist for Suarez in the World Cup and not even lasting a minute on Sunday, that he has officially become a busted flush.
PNENIL feels that mickey mouse america can't come soon enough.

Thanks for posting PNENIL,

Osbourne neither likes or dislikes Stevie G. Osbourne is prepared to say though that Liverpool are very foolish to be letting Steven Gerrard leave when they could clearly of kept him. Brendon Rodger's what a clown, albeit a "sun tanned one!"

Even at 35 (is that Gerrard's age), Osbourne would put Gerrard's name on the Liverpool team sheet every time.

What Sundays incident shows is that it is debatable whether football is really a "sport."
Osbourne would suggest that professional football in 2014-15 is war but without the guns.

Harsh evaluation, but fair?
I wonder?

Robbie stands by his earlier" busted flush" assessment.

Icon? It's all Rio Ferdinand's fault.

Osbourne here,

Robbie and PNENIL, I hear your opinion and respect it.

Stevie G on Sunday was caught.

Would you like to be playing against Steven Gerrard? Osbourne certainly would not! Gerrard is still fit, surely with professional football now being what it is, you want Gerrard in your team?

Osbourne suggests that Brendon Rodgers has seriously mismanaged Steven Gerrard.

Subjectively, Osbourne might not like the way Gerrard operates, however, talking objectively, Osbourne says : "Brendon Rodgers has got the Steven Gerrard situation wrong and with a capital W."

Bad challenge, the type of which he has often made, even when in his pomp.

From his point of view, Liverpool now have six games left, half of which he's banned for.

I wonder if he's hoping Liverpool slip out of contention for European places (apart from the FA Cup) . That would mean that Rodgers will give him a full game at the back end of the season, whereas if they're in contention, he might have to be content with a sub's role.

Wizaard,

Osbourne says, it was not the challenge that was bad, it was the "stamp" after the ball had been released by Gerrard that was disturbing.

Osbourne likes Stevie G, but, what on earth was he doing on Sunday? Is there history between Gerrard and Herrera?

Stupid thing to do, and ruined the game from a neutrals point of view, very poor form from the busted flush.

No man is rich enough to buy back his past.
