Charity Match 21:05 - Apr 3 with 73 viewsBringBackTheRedRoom

Former Blackpool stars Danny Coid and Brett Ormerod will join a team of high-profile military veterans for a charity match at Bloomfield Road next month.

The pair have signed up to help former Blackpool soldier turned adventurer Jordan Wylie raise much needed funds and awareness for three important charities - Frontline Children, Epilepsy Action and Seafarers UK.

Both Coid and Ormerod will lace up their boots once again to take on a select team of celebrities and soap stars from across the North West on Sunday 5 May.

Jordan, 35, who went to Layton Primary School and Collegiate High School in Blackpool, spent 10 years in the British Army before an injury cut his military career short. He is now working closely with Blackpool Football Club's Community Trust to help veterans on the Fylde Coast get the support they need when transitioning back into society.

The military line-up for the charity match will also include famous faces from shows such as Channel 4’s Hunted and SAS Who Dares Wins, as well as gallantry award recipients and TV presenters who have all served in the armed forces.

The celebrity line-up will include many familiar names from some of the nations favourites soaps and tv programmes, such as Emmerdale, Coronation Street and Eastenders. A few of Blackpool’s finest sporting exports will take to the field too, including former British & Intercontinental boxing champion Brian “The Lion” Rose and Lancashire Cricket Captain Steven Croft.

Tickets for the fixture, which kicks-off at 2pm, are priced at £10 for adults and £7 for children, with hospitality and match sponsorship opportunities also available for local businesses.
